  • Still more praise for NBC’s Life starring Damian Lewis!

» Entertainment Weekly critic Ken Tucker selected the series as ranking with the “Best TV of 2007” calling Life “Network TV’s most underrated new cop show, with Damian Lewis as a freshly wealthy cop just released from jail, reentering his workforce with Zen humanism. Special shout-out to Adam Arkin as his loyal and expertly jaundiced best friend.”

» In evaluating the 2007 US television season, commentator Stuart Levine cites Life as one of the best new shows and selects Damian Lewis as NBC’s “breakout star” stating that his portrayal of Detective Charlie Crews gives him “an opportunity to be suave, strong and a guy who you want to see get his revenge.”

» In another discussion of the 2007 television season David Hiltbrand of the Philadelphia Inquirer said “The only new series I got attached to was Life, a quirky cop show starring Damian Lewis, Sarah Shahi, Adam Arkin and Brooke Langton…”

» All 11 first season episodes of Life are now available in the US for free, online viewing at NBC.com.

  • Damian Lewis Update!
Information received from Damian’s associate Melissa indicates that the Lewis family are back in the UK for the holidays; here’s the news:

» The family are doing well and are enjoying their time in Los Angeles during the filming of Life. Right now Damian is just waiting out the labor strike by the Screenwriters Guild before he can begin working again.

» Last Friday Helen McCrory (with new son Gulliver) took part in wardrobe fittings for her role as Narcissa Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

» Damian confirmed that distribution rights for The Baker have been acquired by 2Entertain and they hope to release the film theatrically in the UK in February or March of 2008.

» Damian and Melissa sent best wishes for the holidays! (Right back at them!)
  • The People’s Choice Awards will broadcast in the US on CBS January 8th and Life has been nominated in the Best New TV Drama award category. However, it was announced today that there will not be a live “red carpet” awards ceremony because of the writers strike. Instead the show “will include pre-recorded acceptance speeches by winners as well as their responses to questions sent in by fans, according to a People’s Choice statement.”

  • This television review from the Californian North County Times says of Life starring Damian Lewis:

“Sometimes when life seems the most confusing, I ask myself how Charlie Crews would handle it. The main character in NBC’s new police drama “Life,” Crews is one of the best characters on television… British actor Damian Lewis, who stood out in HBO’s “Band of Brothers” as Lt. Winters —- is the biggest hook in “Life.” His character wanders through crime scenes, and life, asking philosophical questions based on the Zen practices he adopted in prison… The ratings for “Life” have grown each week, and the show has been picked up for a full season by NBC… Don’t let this “life” pass you by.”

Don’t let this “life” pass you by; now that’s excellent advice! :)
