  • Al Norton of 411 Mania’s “Two Tivos To Paradise” made these comments about Life episode 2.10:

“Regular readers know that I am a huge fan of NBC’s Life, and last Wednesday’s Evil…And his Brother Ziggy episode could have received this honor thanks to Damian Lewis’ continued excellence as Charlie Crews, for the wonderful dinner scene at Charlie’s house, or even just for the dialogue involving deer stew, but the truth is the moment Sarah Shahi walked slowly out of the bathroom and straddled the very lucky Donal Logue during the show’s opening scenes, this award was in the bag. Sure, I can look at TV intellectually, breaking down the high and low points of just about any show, but sometimes I am just a man.”

Thanks to Suzanne for the head’s up!

  • This NBC Press Release about viewer ratings for the week of December 1st through 7th included great news about Life:

“… ‘LIFE’ ON WEDNESDAY DELIVERS ITS BIGGEST VIEWERSHIP IN MORE THAN
A YEAR, AND SCORES A REGULAR-SLOT SEASON HIGH IN ADULTS 18-49,
SURGING 41 PERCENT IN 18-49 AND 50 PERCENT IN TOTAL VIEWERS VERSUS
    ITS MOST RECENT TELECAST …

Also on Wednesday, “Life” apprehended its biggest total viewership in more than a year and scored its highest 18-49 rating for a regular-slot telecast so far this season. “Life” surged 41 percent in 18-49 rating and 50 percent in total viewers versus its prior original telecast on November 19. …

… Wednesday at 9 p.m., “Life” (2.4/6 in 18-49, 8.1 million viewers overall) hit a season high for a regular-slot telecast in adults 18-49 and attracted its biggest total viewership in more than a year (since October 3, 2007). This “Life” episode outscored all the show’s regular-slot Friday and Wednesday telecasts this season (trailing in 18-49 rating only a special Monday telecast on September 29). “Life” surged 41 percent in 18-49 rating (2.4/6 vs. 1.7/4) and 50 percent or
2.7 million persons in total viewers (8.1 million vs. 5.4 million) versus its prior original telecast on November 19.

It is worth noting that “Life” has been adding an average 23 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from “live plus same day” to “live plus seven day” results. This makes “Life” the #2 series on the major broadcast networks in terms of biggest percentage increase from “live plus same day” to “live plus seven,” behind only “Lipstick Jungle.” In total viewers, “Life” has been adding an average 882,000 viewers overall to its previously reported “live plus same day” numbers. …”

  • This David Hughes review for the Region 2 DVD of The Escapist (a Rupert Wyatt film with Brian Cox and Damian Lewis that will be released on DVD in the UK on January 5th) says:

“With limited resources, and a laudable, stylistically valid refusal to escape the confines of a single location, Wyatt proves himself adept at building suspense…Cox is a commanding presence throughout… Among the supporting cast, Lewis and Mackintosh are standouts, the former taking a leaf out of Cox’s less-is-more-threatening acting book…”

“The Escapist is not only the best prison drama since The Shawshank Redemption, it’s easily the best British film of last year, and richly deserves its soon-to-be-cult film status.”

This Virgin Media article reveals that:

Damian voices the very British Agent Double 0, 0, sent on Her Majesty’s Secret Service to foil a plot to steal Big Ben… Damian said: “I love the quirky comedy in Phineas and Ferb and I jumped at the chance to play a secret agent. Double 0, 0′s heroics and comedy timing would give Agent 007 a run for his money.”

The Phineas and Ferb episode featuring Damian Lewis will air in 2009.
