  • Damian Lewis on Broadway?! The latest from Baz Bamigboye’s Mail Online column:

Nicholas Le Provost, Kelly Price and Chuk Iwuji, who will join Damian Lewis, Keira Knightley, Tara Fitzgerald and Dominic Rowan in Martin Crimp’s modern-day version of Moliere’s The Misanthrope.

Rehearsals begin in London on Monday, …

Theatre owners and producers from New York have already been on to the London producers, asking to transfer the production – with Keira and Damian – to New York.

I do know that, for now, the only thing on Keira’s mind is to start rehearsals and get it right in London first. If she did decide to go to New York, then it would be as part of an ensemble.

In any case, it’s rather more up to Damian whether it goes or not, as he’s the lead. Keira has told friends she’s very much a company player.

Previews for The Misanthrope open December 7th. Tickets can be booked through the official site. Interested in getting together with other fans? Click here at the Yahoo! Group for more information.

  • In an interview with /Film, actor Simon Farnaby describes his role and a scene from the comedy adventure Your Highness:

I play a knight, Mancunius the Bold. Who’s sort of … there’s a gang of Elite Knights led by Damian Lewis and Toby Jones who’s in it as well and we’re sort of the baddies. They shot this sequence where we were preparing for battle and we went “Wouldn’t we … what do you want us to do?” and they said “Just do what you think how you would prepare for battle” so there’s slow motion of us doing yoga and picking out weapons. That was great to do.

Your Highness starring Danny McBride, James Franco, Natalie Portman, Zooey Deschanel is set for release on October 1, 2010

  • From Baz Bamigboy’s Mail Online column:

Damian Lewis as Alceste – Moliere’s Misanthrope – looks on disdainfully as two photographs illustrate what he regards as the shallowness of society. …

‘This Misanthrope is angered by everything he sees around him and yet, at the same time, you might say he’s one of the great romantics in literature,’ Damian told me.

Yet Alceste has fallen in love with Jennifer, the megastar played by Keira, and she’s unable to provide the truthfulness he seeks.

Damian added: ‘Alceste is really his own worst enemy because he’s so unutterably rude when showing his dissatisfaction with the people around him.’

Books tickets now at The Misanthrope‘s official site!

  • Damian Lewis is quoted in Metro.co.uk discussing Keira Knightly, his co-star in The Misanthrope:

Damian Lewis is positive that Keira Knightley will do a terrific job when she makes her debut on the West End stage. The Band Of Brothers star will be appearing alongside the British actress in the West End production of Moliere’s comedy The Misanthrope, which opens in December. “She’s got quite a successful acting dad and playwright mum, so she can handle herself – Keira is fabulous, she’s an absolute sweetheart – she’s looking forward to it as well so we’re going to have fun,” he said.

He added: “I’m very excited about doing The Misanthrope – massively. We did the photo call for it the other day, and it made it very real, very exciting.” And Damian joked that he wouldn’t mind the paparazzi attention. “If I can get in and out the stage door every night without fighting, I’d feel hurt – I’d be insulted,” he quipped. The Misanthrope will be at the Comedy Theatre from December 17.
