Damian Hosted a Billions Party – Nov 17, 2019

Cheers Mate

by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | November 17, 2019

To celebrate the start of Billions season five filming, Damian hosted a party at his temporary New York residence for all his co-stars on Saturday, November 16, 2019. We waited to post this news in hopes of photos surfacing throughout the evening into the next day, but nothing so far. We sure hope there were many Dollar Bill shenanigans and Wags words of wisdom. Co-star Stephen Kunken, a self-proclaimed coffee sommelier who plays Compliance Officer Ari Spyros on Billions, did report that spirits were high from all the Michter’s spirits provided. Oh to be a fly on the wall!

Billions Filming in New Paltz and Looking for Extras – Nov 16, 2019

Party Scene at Victorian Castle Resort

by Saba Ali | Poughkeepsie Journal | November 16, 2019

A Showtime series starring Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis will be filming in New Paltz next month. And, the production is looking for locals to work as extras. Billions, which is filming its fifth season, will be shooting at New York’s historic spa resort Mohonk Mountain House on December 2-3. The Victorian castle resort is nestled in the Hudson Valley, only 90 miles north of New York City. Surrounded by 40,000 acres of pristine forest, the National Historic Landmark resort offers farm-to-table cuisine and an award-winning spa.

Billions was looking for an “old-old fashioned, but beautiful hotel” to shoot a party scene, said Hudson Valley Film Commission Director Laurent Rejto.  The casting company is seeking background extras to play “wealthy looking people” at a party” he said.

Grant Wilfley Casting is asking New Paltz locals, anyone within 20 miles, to apply. The call is for both SAG-AFTRA and non-union applicants. Extras will be paid and are not required to have previous acting experience.

For those interested, email BILLIONS@gwcnyc.com with your name, union status, phone number and availability for the two set dates.

Billions, which also stars Maggie Siff, Condola Rashad, Toby Leonard Moore and David Costabile, focuses on a U.S. attorney, played by Giamatti, as he pursues a hedge fund tycoon, played by Lewis.

Introducing the Characters Michael Prince and Catherine Brant

by Rick Porter | Hollywood Reporter | November 5, 2019

The ‘Good Wife’ and ‘House of Cards’ stars will play key recurring parts in the Showtime drama.
Billions is adding some more star power to its fifth season.

Julianna Margulies and Corey Stoll will each appear in recurring roles on the Showtime drama, which is set to return to the premium cabler in 2020.

Stoll (House of Cards, The Strain) will have a season-long arc as a character named Michael Prince, a business titan with roots in small-town Indiana. Margulies (The Good Wife, ER) will recur as Catherine Brant, an Ivy League sociology professor and best-selling author.

Season four of Billions found former enemies Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) and Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) forming a tenuous but effective alliance — along with Wendy Rhoades (Maggie Siff), the chief counselor to both men — to take out their common rivals, including Grigor Andolov (John Malkovich), Taylor Mason (Asia Kate Dillon) Bryan Connerty (Toby Leonard Moore) and Jock Jeffcoat (Clancy Brown). The show averaged 4.5 million viewers across all platforms last season.

Billions Films at Whiteface – Nov 5, 2019

Wilmington, Whiteface, Adirondacks…Oh My!

by Griffin Kelly | Adirondack Daily Enterprise / NNY360 | November 5, 2019

We now know the backstory of this Lake Placid photo that Damian tweeted out on Halloween. The Adirondacks is becoming quite the popular filming spot for cable television.

Last Tuesday and Wednesday, the Showtime series “Billions” filmed scenes at the Whiteface Mountain Ski Center and along Veterans Memorial Highway, which leads to the top of the mountain. This was the area they shot Season 5, Episode 1 where Wags and Axe took a motorcycle ride, seemingly on the Alaskan-Canadian Highway. In Season 5, Episode 2, “Billions” filmed the Mike Prince conference at Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, New York.

The drama series stars Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis as U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades and billionaire hedge fund manager Bobby Axelrod, respectively. About to enter its fifth season, “Billions” revolves around a Wall Street tycoon (Lewis) using his upper-echelon status and scheming ways to make immense profits, while a lawyer (Giamatti) tries to expose him for insider trading.

Interim Wilmington town Supervisor Roy Holzer said he is a fan of the show.

The Billionaire Mindset: What You Can Learn from TV Series Billions – Sept 11, 2019

Trust. Succession. Billions.

by Remy Blumenfeld | Forbes | September 11, 2019

As a coach who has worked with individual Billionaires and on two occasions with billionaire families, I’ve been hooked on two excellent TV series. Billions stars Paul Giamatti who plays New York district attorney, Chuck Rhoades, and Damian Lewis, a hedge fund billionaire, Bobby Axelrod. Succession, from HBO, created by Jesse Armstrong, centers around the Roys, a media dynasty. whose patriarch is played by Brian Cox. In my experience both are excruciatingly, forensically, true to life. But how do they help us to understand how Billionaires experience the world?

From the Inside Out

Both Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) and Logan Roy (Brian Cox) epitomize the ruthless, at times maniacal drive to beat their competition, which I’ve seen before in self-made billionaires. And while we all imagine that Billionaires lives must surely be shinier and happier than ours, in reality, Billionaires are ordinary, complex, flawed human beings whose lives and longings I have not found to be sated by the number of houses, yachts or helicopters they own. In my experience, serious money only makes people’s lives more complicated, heavier and less joyous.

Both series do a great job of showing how huge wealth can set people apart from the rest of humanity, and how living in lonely compounds on top of the world, like the Axelrod’s’ and the Roy’s’, does not stop billionaires from plummeting the depth of human despair.

Trust

The TV series about the Gettys, starring Donald Sutherland, was appropriately titled Trust, as Billionaires are affected by a profound lack of this, equivalent to that experienced by people who have been systematically abused.

The 100 Best Shows Right Now – Sept 9, 2019

TV Guide Ranks Peak TV’s Finest Offerings

by Liam Matthews | TV Guide | September 9, 2019

Game of Thrones‘ watch has ended, Fleabag raised an eyebrow to us for the last time, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend took its final bow, and The Big Bang Theory finally fixed that dang elevator. The last 12 months brought fans of some of television’s biggest shows the one thing they’ve been missing: closure.

But even after the conclusion of so many important series, thus rendering those programs ineligible for our ranking of the 100 best shows on right now (words mean stuff!), the caliber of content may be stronger than ever before. In the last month alone, viewers have been able to watch new episodes of GLOWSuccessionDear White People, and Power, and catch up on beloved series like The CrownThe Marvelous Mrs. MaiselSupernatural, and The Good Fight before their new seasons premiere. And who hasn’t gotten sucked into a marathon of SVU or Snapped at least once over the past year? This lineup will only grow in the future, with the launch of Disney Plus, Apple TV Plus, HBO Max, NBCUniversal’s streaming platform, and, heck, even Quibi? Quibi! (Say it out loud, it’s fun.)

That’s our take, at least: Whittling down the list of best shows right now from some 1,700 options in this age of Peak TV was a painstaking task, and our editors and writers spent weeks arguing over which shows should make the cut. That some favorites were left off our definitive list speaks to the era; never has watching television been more rewarding than right now. These are the 100 best shows at this very moment.

Billions Season 4 Locations Guide – July 1, 2019

A Guidebook to Billions Filming Locations

by Damianista | Fan Fun with Damian Lewis | July 1, 2019

source: Showtime

I am an immigrant. I moved to the US for graduate study in late 1990s. My husband and I, having finished our PhDs, moved to New York in 2001, only weeks before September 11, for our first jobs. The city has since given me so much in so many different dimensions and defined me as an individual: a foodie, a film buff, a theatre lover, a feminist, a wine snob, a runner and more… Even though we moved to the South five years later for new jobs, we could not give up on New York. We still have a tiny apartment on the Upper West Side and we enjoy the city as part-time New Yorkers 😀

And as I mentioned a billion times before, Billions is a dream show for me not only because my favorite actor is in it, but also because New York, from its landmarks to its city parks and to its quirky shops, appears as a cast member in the show! As someone who feels the only home she has in the world is the city that never sleeps, I particularly love it that Billions is taking over New York, the BIG film studio that it is, and shooting all over the place, from Manhattan to Queens to Brooklyn to The Bronx to Long Island and to northern suburbs. So I have put together this Billions Season 4 Location Guide as a loving tribute to my most favorite place on earth and a heartfelt thank you to the show creators for writing a love letter to the city.

Hope you pick and choose and take your own Billions tour in New York City and beyond and give us feedback! And in case you missed our locations guide for Season 1, Season 2 and Season 3 you can check them out here, here and here.
