Top grade TV story is waiting for you

Let´s tell it straight: BRATRSTVO NEOHROŽENÝCH (in original Band of Brothers) is a really fantastic serial. It is for sure the best war serial at all. After all, it was produced by such great guys like Steven Speilberg and Tom Hanks.

The serial describes stories of an elite airborne American troop Easy Company during the second world war. These soldiers played an important role not only in the success of the Normandy landings of Allies. They went through hard fighting in Holland, Belgium, Ardens, crossed Rhine, fought in Germany, liberated the concentrate camp in Landsberg, and the fortunes of war led them all the way to Hitler´s Berchtesgaden.

Ten one-hour parts are based on the bestseller of the same name by Stephen J. Ambrose. Originality of the adaptation consists in almost documentary form of shooting. Every part exposes the autentic experiences of soldiers, who survived. The raw style of the adaptation is unique also as the real camera and stories full of blood, pain and death. Therefore, the serial is broadcasted after 10 p.m. (Nova TV presents the first part on Tuesday 4th of April).

The story follows adventures of ordinary young soldiers of Easy Company. They joined the army, were trained in Georgia, then were transfered to England and their D-day was 6th of June 1944. So, there are several main heroes in the serial. Individual fates are fading into one another, disappearing, returning…

Anyway, one of them is the central figure – Lt. Richard Winters. He is played by an English actor Damian Lewis. Born in 1971 in London, he was nor thirty in the time of shooting. Lewis comes from a rich bohemian family; after studies he played in the prestigious theatre of Royal Shakespeare Company, but was more attracted by film and television.

He appeared on silver screen in several successful movies as Dreamcatcher, An Unfinished Life or Brides. But it was the television and just Band of Brothers, what made him a real star. The another excellent serial was the remake of The Forsyte Saga, broadcast last year by the Czech television. Lewis played also the main figure - Soames Forsyte.
