Damian Makes GQ’s Best Menswear Look This Week – Sept 4, 2018

How to Recreate Four of This Week’s Best Menswear Looks for Less

by Brad Nash | GQ Australia | September 4, 2018

As David Bowie sang,
“Fashion!
Turn to the left
Fashion!
Turn to the right”

Stock up on those loud shirts!

This weekend was one to behold in the world of menswear, with Hollywood’s leading men taking to the Venice Film Festival red carpet in red carpet looks that are entirely summer-ready.

Perfect for us, then.

But alas, we can’t all afford to swathe ourselves in the finest Gucci, nor are any of us good looking or famous enough to warrant Gucci wanting to drape us in clothes of our own accord.

Here’s how you can achieve some of this season’s iconic looks without breaking the bank, while adding a few wardrobe staples to your rotation in the process.

Damian Lewis at the US Open

Seated alongside Anna Wintour as a guest of Roger Federer for the Swissman’s US open clash, Bobby Axelrod took things tropical with a bright printed shirt and stone chinos combo that’ll set you up just right going into spring.

The Fashion and Style of Bobby Axelrod – May 4, 2018

Bobby Axelrod: The CASHmere King

by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | May 4, 2018

You would think Damian Lewis and Bobby Axelrod couldn’t dress more differently but diving a little deeper, I found some commonalities. However, if we were to simplify, Damian typically dresses up with spurts of leisure whereas Axe dresses down with spurts of formality. Svelte Damian can wear a suit like a coat hanger and Axe can wear a hoodie like a dope Bankster. As Billions costume designer Eric Daman has said, “Damian looks like he just walked off a mens catwalk in Italy” so when “Axe does wear a suit, it’s like a punch to the face.”

During his interview with Mr. Porter, Damian explained Bobby’s fashion choices:

“The clothes that Bobby wears are something of a uniform, but they are prowling and athletic – easy to move fast in. And that feels right. Him not wearing a suit and tie shows great confidence. Shows that he isn’t established. That he’s very much outside the New York class system and its aristocracy of old European industrialist families. With Bobby, money is king.”

He goes on to state,

“We talked a lot about the way Bobby should look. That culture of hoodies and sneakers has existed in the dot.com world for a while now, but you get it in the hedge fund world, also.”

In this April, 2018 How To Dress Like a Billionaire article, the Wall Street Journal mentions the infamous Axe hoodie. Just “type Bobby Axelrod into Google and the first recommendation that pops up is Bobby Axelrod hoodie.”  As mentioned earlier, Eric Daman revealed Axe wears cashmere Loro Piana zip-ups. The Bomber Hood Leasure is made of knitted cashmere and cotton, designed for leisure time and relaxation with a fitted cut and sweatshirt-inspired styling. Each one costs a mere $2,295!

And you can’t just throw these puppies into your washing machine! It’s either professional dry cleaning or hand wash with neutral detergent, preferrably the Loro Piana Cashmere Soap, a special detergent created by Loro Piana for garments in cashmere and baby cashmere. It’s a natural product that refreshes fibers while keeping their softness using a gentle formula with a natural base derived from olive oil and sugar. The perfect accompaniment when gifting a cashmere garment.

Both Damian and Axe like their jeans, trainers, and the occasional suit from time to time. In this article Damian mentions the Adidas Samba with three simple stripes, Rag and Bone jeans, and a tailor-made Huntsman or Burberry.  And while Damian has worn Adidas, Axe prefers Puma Suede kicks. As for a suit, Axe spares no cost and goes for the tailor-made Cifonelli pinstripe. Both enjoy a good watch, Axe preferring the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Blue Dial and in this article Damian’s choice is a Rolex Air-King.

In Billions Season 1, we saw Axe sporting some Puma Suede kicks in both tan and black, the Nike Internationalist Premium Bleu, as well as the Nike FS Lite Run 2 Running Shoe.

In Billions Season 3, Episode 5 and 7 we saw Axe wearing a pair of New Balance Numeric AM210, black.

In Billions Season 3, Episode 8 Axe was sporting a pair of Nike Killshot 2.

Since the premiere of Billions in 2016 there have been numerous articles about the fashion and style of the onscreen characters, namely Axe, Chuck and Wendy. In 2017 Showtime revealed a marketing campaign featuring the Billions fashion of Axe and Chuck and now in 2018, Showtime continues with a fashion and style marketing campaign, developing their own trend! Let’s take a look at those campaigns and the fashion of Bobby Axelrod from 2016-present.

Analyzing the New Billions Season 3 Poster Art and Logo – Jan 28, 2018

Are there spoilers, clues, and hints hidden in the new Billions season three promotional material?

by Gingersnap | Fan Fun with Damian Lewis | January 28, 2018

On Wednesday, January 24, Showtime released new promotional material for Billions season three. Are there spoilers, clues and hints hidden in the poster art and logo? I immediately began scrutinizing the photos for suggestion and significance. I mean, after all, it is instinctive to analyze everything since I have a degree in that field and do it for a living. It’s second nature. When dissecting the details of the promo material, you’ll never guess what I found. So come with me on a deep dive and see if we can come up with an indication of what’s to come.

Let’s start with the logo.

Source: Twitter @SHO_Billions

Ominous, is it not? Dark slate grey background of metal with exposed rivets. Reminds me of a war ship and we know the Billions‘ writers like to reference historical battles and cannon fodder. Is that grey metal iron? In some biblical meanings, natural iron is a symbol of natural, rational truth. Will the truth come out that Wendy violated her contract to warn Chuck about Ice Juice and will Dake discover that she shorted the Ice Juice stock? This scenario is definitely a favorite of mine and my fellow blogger/partner in crime, Damianista, and she talks about it here.  Oh, and I’ll come back to biblical references in a few paragraphs below, even though it seems like it’s out of left field at the moment. Stick with me kid, it will make sense in a bit.

What’s even more prominent about the Billions season three logo is the golden text. Gold as a precious metal signifies wealth, grandeur and prosperity and billionaires are not adverse to gold bar collections, including Axe. But take a second look at the golden text. Is it me, or is Billions fading, almost bleeding or melting? Are the billions disappearing into perhaps, millions? Is Axe’s financial empire on the brink of ruin? Is Axe Capital soon to be erased like the letters? Quick, someone grab a gold Sharpie® and start coloring the font back in. Please help my Bobby.

Now for the meaty part of my post, the group photo.
