Day 11: Men’s Semi-Finals
by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | July 12, 2019
It wouldn’t be a summer without Damian and Helen enjoying some tennis. Our favorite couple were spotted in the Royal Box during day 11 of the Wimbledon 2019 Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London, England on Friday, July 12, 2019 to watch Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal reprise their 2008 Wimbledon final in Friday’s semifinals. Damian enjoyed the company of David Beckham and Eric Bana who were in attendance nearby, but something must have been very entertaining, as Damian and Jude Law had quite the laugh together – and we have the pictures to prove it!

Our Englishman is back on the East Coast from filming Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood in Los Angeles! He, along with Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour and Bee Shaffer (daughter of Wintour), attended the match of Roger Federer of Switzerland and sat in Federer’s players box at Arthur Ashe Stadium on day four of the U.S. Open.
The tournament was held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center Complex, Thursday, August 30, 2018 in the Flushing Meadows neighborhood of the Queens borough of New York City.
Here is the order of play:
Arthur Ashe Stadium
Day Session
Johanna Larsson vs Angelique Kerber
Roger Federer vs Benoit Paire
Night Session
Novak Djokovic vs Tennys Sandgren
Maria Sharapova vs Sorana Cirstea
Perhaps Damian is also in attendance to lend support to Maria Sharapova, who helped Bobby Axelrod work on his backhand shot in Billions season 3, episode 10 here.
Before the tournament began Damian hit the Blue Carpet for a fun interview by playing a match game – tennis player version. He was asked which Shakespearean character does Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Venice Williams and Rafael Nadal most closely align with. Find out his answers below and for the full video click here.

Damian Lewis: Q&A
by Rosanna Greenstreet | The Guardian | October 28, 2005
Damian Lewis was born in London in 1971. He was nominated for a Golden Globe for his role in the second world war drama Band Of Brothers. He plays Benedict in Much Ado About Nothing, part of the BBC’s Shakespeare season, and next month stars in Ibsen’s Pillars Of The Community at the National Theatre. He lives in London and Wales.
Here is his Q&A:
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Autumn, long walk, fire, bottle of red.
What is your greatest fear?
Death.
Which living person do you most admire?
Roger Federer – unearthly talent combined with killer instinct.
What has been your most embarrassing moment?
Not appropriate to mention here. I was 15 and had only one thing on my mind …
