Tarantino Might Team with Netflix For a 4-Hr Cut of Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood – Aug 3, 2019

More McQueen Scene On Our Screen?

by Steffanie Tan | Pedestrian | August 3, 2019

Today in rumoursville, Quentin Tarantino might re-team with Netflix to brings fans an extended cut of Once Upon A Time … In Hollywood.

In an interview on the The Mutuals podcast, via Complex, OUATIH star Nicholas Hammondsaid there are talks of a “four-hour Netflix version”, which sounds pretty standard for Tarantino. The theatrical version clocks in at two hours and 45 minutes.

Netflix recently turned Tarantino’s 2015 film The Hateful Eight into a mini-series called The Hateful Eight: Extended Version, which is pretty much four episodes that are all almost an hour long each. Unfortunately, it appears it’s only available on the US version of the streaming service… for now.

According to Hammond, there were a lot of scenes Tarantino shot that couldn’t make it into the film because “there simply wasn’t enough room.”

“I think they’re talking about doing the same [as The Hateful Eight],” he continued. “There are some actors like Tim Roth, wonderful actors, who never even made it into the film. I mean, their entire roles got cut … Actors, who are really, really first class actors, and they went and shot their scenes and I’m sure they’re wonderful scenes but they’re not in the movie.”

“The Netflix version will be great too,” he added.

This bit of the interview begins around the 22-minute and 10-second mark.

It’s July 26, 2019 and I’m planning my early escape from work to see an 11:00 a.m. showing of Once Upon a Time in…Hollywood. A Collection of Reviews: The Critics Have Spoken

by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | July 25, 2019

With Once Upon a Time In…Hollywood  out in U.S. theaters tomorrow, July 26, the movie reviews have started pouring in. Here is what they are saying:

New York Times

There is a lot of love in “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood,” and quite a bit to enjoy. The screen is crowded with signs of Quentin Tarantino’s well-established ardor — for the movies and television shows of the decades after World War II; for the vernacular architecture, commercial signage and famous restaurants of Los Angeles; for the female foot and the male jawline; for vintage clothes and cars and cigarettes. But the mood in this, his ninth feature, is for the most part affectionate rather than obsessive. Don’t get me wrong. Tarantino is still practicing a cinema of saturation, demanding the audience’s total attention and bombarding us with allusions, visual jokes, flights of profane eloquence, daubs of throwaway beauty and gobs of premeditated gore. And yet “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood,” whose title evokes bedtime stories as well as a pair of Sergio Leone masterpieces, is Tarantino’s most relaxed movie by far, both because of its ambling, shaggy-dog structure and the easygoing rhythm of its scenes.

Inside the ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ Premiere

by Chris Gardner | Hollywood Reporter | July 23, 2019

Quentin Tarantino has called Once Upon a Time in Hollywood his love letter to 1969 Los Angeles, and on Monday night, the auteur delivered that heartfelt homage right in the heart of Tinseltown at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre. As the writer, director and producer of his ninth film, Tarantino’s passions for the bygone era could be felt everywhere — from a faux studio soundstage that served as the backdrop for a blush pink carpet to an outdoor lounge dubbed the Pussycat Theatre where VIPs sipped cocktails at sundown waiting for stars Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie to arrive.

13 Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Posters Light Up the Hollywood Skyline in Neon

by Kevin Burwick | MovieWeb | July 22, 2019

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood boasts an impressive cast and a lot of them are featured in their own character posters. Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming movie has already had a bunch of great promotional posters modeled after fake movies from within Once Upon a Time and character posters featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie. However, the latest posters expand on the cast and have been spotted on billboards in major cities. Luke Perry’s son Jack even found one of his father in Los Angeles and scaled it to pose for a picture.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton, Margot Robbie’s Sharon Tate, and Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth are all featured in the new Once Upon a Time in Hollywood posters. Luke Perry plays Scott in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and the movie serves as his last role on the big screen. The actor sadly passed away earlier this year after complications from suffering a massive stroke. Actress Margaret Qualley plays Cat, while Al Pacino plays Marvin Schwarzs and they have their own posters too.

Additionally, Mike Moh’s Bruce Lee, Timothy Olyphant’s Johnny, Kurt Russell’s Randy, and Damian Lewis’ Steve McQueen are all featured in the new Once Upon a Time in Hollywood posters. Even Sayuri the dog gets her own poster as Brandy. Quentin Tarantino has been going all out in promoting the upcoming movie, which has a considerable amount of hype surrounding it. The director has talked about calling it quits when it comes to taking big screen projects on, but he still has a few idea floating around which could turn into possible projects down the line, like a possible Kill Bill 3.

Quentin Tarantino Gives Insights Into Damian’s Steve McQueen – July 4, 2019

Photostills Further Reveal Quentin Tarantino’s 9th Film

by Staff | ANI News | July 4, 2019

We are about three weeks away from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which opens in theaters July 26th! Still no sneak peek photos of Damian as Steve McQueen, but Quentin Tarantino recently shared his insights with ANI News regarding Leonardo DiCaprio’s rival role with Damian’s Steve McQueen:

“Leonardo DiCaprio plays an actor named Rick Dalton who had a very successful NBC series called Bounty Law. It started in the ’58-’59 season and ended in the ’63-’64 season. It came out the same season as Steve McQueen came out with Wanted Dead or Alive, and they’re pretty much identical shows. McQueen on Wanted Dead or Alive played a slim, cocksure bounty hunter named Josh, and on Bounty Law Rick Dalton played a slim, cocksure bounty hunter named Jake. And they were both equally popular on television for the time and the fan magazines played up the rivalry: ‘Josh or Jake, who’s the biggest hunk? We let our readers decide!’ He became quite popular and like McQueen during his hiatus, he started doing movies. And they did okay, but during McQueen’s hiatus, eventually, he did The Magnificent Seven, and that was that. So when McQueen goes back to his series to finish his last season, he’s a fucking movie star. Rick is still Jake…he doesn’t pull off the TV-to-movies transition.”

Confirmed: Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood to Premiere at Cannes – May 2, 2019

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Joins Cannes Competition Roster

by Elsa Keslassy | Variety | May 2, 2019

We reported earlier here that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood may be premiering at the Cannes Film Festival. Now, according to Variety, it’s official. We hope Damian attends as part of the “…cast in tow.” See below.

The suspense is over: Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will indeed have its world premiere and compete at the Cannes Film Festival, the fest announced Thursday.

The star-studded movie has been widely anticipated as a festival highlight but wasn’t included in Cannes’ official selection announcement on April 18. Artistic director Thierry Fremaux told journalists several times that day that he hoped for post-production on Tarantino’s film to be completed in time for the film to be shown at the festival. Fremaux said Tarantino was eager to be back at Cannes and was working hard to finish the film by May, which was a challenge because it was shot in 35mm, which takes longer to edit than digital film, and is slated for a July release.

It’s almost the occasion to delve back into the past of the swinging sixties, but it’s no regular trip if it’s with director Quentin Tarantino.

A Guide to Everything You’ll Need to Know About TV, Film and Music Next Year, Including Tarantino’s Charles Manson Obsession

by Steve Rose | The Guardian | December 29, 2018

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood – Hollywood has been like a ghost town recently. Where have all the actors gone? Where’s Brad Pitt? Where’s Leonardo DiCaprio? Where are Al Pacino, James Marsden, Dakota Fanning, Damian Lewis, Emile Hirsch, Kurt Russell? Even Luke Perry goes straight to voicemail. Turns out, they are all over on Quentin Tarantino’s set, recreating the Manson family murders and the decadent, dodgily attired, flower-powered Los Angeles of the late 1960s.

Tarantino’s take is a mix of reality and fiction, he’s hinted. Margot Robbie plays Sharon Tate, wife of Roman Polanski, who was murdered by Manson’s followers in 1969. DiCaprio and Pitt (in their first time on screen together) play fictional friends – respectively a washed-up TV cowboy and his stunt double – who are, says Tarantino, “struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognise any more.”

Tarantino has described the film as “probably the closest to Pulp Fiction that I have done”, which will be music to fans’ ears, but this could be his biggest challenge yet…

Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

by Paul Whitington | The Independent.ie | December 29, 2018

Next year, like most years, kicks off with a bang as the Oscar hopefuls crowd into the multiplexes to vie for our attention. There are some fine films in amongst all the usual awards hype, and January and February are definitely good months for cinema-goers.

The superhero craze shows no sign of slowing, sadly, and a clutch of noisy adventures will be heading your way in the early summer, including an Avengers finale. Lots of family franchise sequels and rehashes are on the way, too, including a ‘Dumbo’ remake, while for grown-ups Quentin Tarantino has an intriguing new film on the way, and so does Martin Scorsese.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

July 26, 2019

Quentin Tarantino has assembled a formidable cast for this intriguing drama set in Hollywood in 1969, on the eve of the Manson family murders. Leonardo DiCaprio is Rick Dalton, a washed-up TV actor who lives next-door to Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie), while Brad Pitt plays Rick’s long-time stuntman. Damian Lewis, Al Pacino and Lena Dunham co-star.
