James Bond: Damian Lewis Responds to Rumours He’ll Replace Daniel Craig as 007

Damian Lewis has dispelled rumours he can replace Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.

The former Homeland star, 45, is occasionally listed alongside the likes of Tom Hardy and Aiden Turner as a potential 007 for the future.

However, in a new interview, he poked fun at the ongoing speculation – and appeared to dampen any hopes that he’ll be next to take the iconic role on.

He said simply: “By the time they make a decision [on Bond] I’ll be dead. So no one need worry any more.”

The actor is reported to have gone on to say that he believes Craig will step into the Bond shoes one more time.

Lewis also spoke of his love of theatre, telling this week’s ES Magazine: “At 21, all I wanted to do was theatre.

“It’s sort of interesting that — when you think back to your 21-year-old self and go with what they wanted. I was totally romantic and idealistic about doing theatre and having theatre companies and running theatres.

“There is something quite comforting about reminding yourself that you still love those things you loved all those years ago. It’s quite grounding.”
