– Tudor Costume Display –
The Bishop’s Palace and Gardens in Wells, Somerset has a brand new exhibition: The Costumes of Wolf Hall, showcasing original garments worn in the award-winning BBS/PBS Masterpiece series Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light. The costumes are on loan from BAFTA and Oscar-winning Angels Costume Company.
And yes, that includes the coat worn by Damian Lewis as Henry VIII, as well as gowns worn by Kate Phillips (Jane Seymour), Lilit Lesser (Lady Mary), and Summer Richards (Catherine Howard).
The costumes have been nominated for an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Period Costumes, and the awards will air live on CBS on September 14, 2025.
Visitors will also get a behind-the-scenes look at the sets and props used at the Palace and how Wells became a backdrop for the Tudor drama. The Cathedral stood in for the Palace of Whitehall, including scenes of Henry VIII’s marriage to Jane Seymour.
The exhibit runs from August 28 – September 28, 2025 in the Palace’s Conference Room on the first floor, which can be accessed via stairs or a lift located on the left in the Entrance Hall.
The Costumes of Wolf Hall exhibition is included with admission to The Bishop’s Palace, including Day and Joint Tickets, the Annual Pass, and Friends of the Palace/Membership.
