– The False Equation –
According to Plunge Daily, Raoul Peck’s Orwell: 2+2=5 documentary will be honored at the 6th Annual Albie Awards in New York City on September 24, 2025 for its impact, and after the documentary has made its festival run at Toronto Film Festival and Festival du Cinéma Américain de Deauville.
As part of the Clooney Foundation for Justice (CFJ), The Albies were created by George and Amal Clooney to shine a protective spotlight on brave individuals and groups from around the globe who, at great personal risk, have devoted their lives to fighting for justice.
Expectations are high for Orwell: 2+2=5 to spark conversations about democracy, freedom, and the dangers of unchecked power.
Raoul Peck underscores that Orwell’s message was never limited to Soviet authoritarianism: “Authoritarians don’t only happen in faraway countries. It can happen in the UK, in the United States, and elsewhere.”
The film features Damian as the voice of Orwell, who embodies the author, and will be in select US theaters October 3, 2025.
