Damian Lewis Pops Up at Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival

– Nights Out at Home –

Audience members and festival goers were treated to a surprise when Damian made a virtual guest appearance at the 20th annual Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival in Suffolk. Damian’s appearance was part of a pre-recorded question he sent in to restaurant critic and chef Jay Rayner at The Symposium on Saturday, September 27, 2025.

In the summer of 2021 Damian appeared on Rayner‘s Out to Lunch podcast. Revisit that here.

At the festival, Rayner answered questions put to him by a host of virtual star interviewers as he celebrated 25 years as The Observer’s award-winning restaurant critic with the publication of Nights Out At Home, a memoir-in-recipes.

Throughout Rayner’s quarter of a century eating professionally in some of the world’s best (and frankly worst) restaurants, he has always reverse-engineered his favorite dishes, and now he shared with attendees those brilliant recipes and his memories of the restaurants that served them.

The Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the local community and businesses within it. They work year-round to give Suffolk producers and businesses a platform to showcase what they do, and get recognition and awareness from chefs, restaurants and business people all over the country.

The festival seeks to reconnect people with the food provided by the landscape as a whole: the villages and market towns, the fields, woodlands and marshes, the rivers and the sea.

Big thanks goes out to fan Katy King for sharing this information with us and providing the photo!
