Orwell 2+2=5 Screens at BFI London Film Festival

– BFI 2025 –

Orwell 2+2=5 is scheduled to screen at this year’s 69th annual BFI London Film Festival, which runs from October 8-19, 2025 at London’s South Bank, West End venues, partner cinemas around UK, and at home on BFI Player. Specifically, Royal Festival Hall, Picturehouse Central, The Prince Charles Cinema, Curzon, Vue West End, ICA and BFI IMAX.

The documentary will screen on Friday, October 17 at Curzon Soho Cinema and Saturday, October 18 at Curzon Mayfair.

From acclaimed documentary filmmaker Raoul Peck, Orwell: 2+2=5 is adapted from various letters, essays and diary entries from George Orwell. Peck pictures the enduring relevance of his writings, as narrated by Damian Lewis, in the age of late-stage capitalism. In relation to Orwell’s most revered work: 1984, the timely connections of a surveillance state in the form of data farming, historical revisionism by an authoritarian cult of personality and war as peace are evident in 2025.

The BFI Film Festival will showcase 247 films, including features, shorts, and episodic content, and conclude with the U.K. premiere of 100 Nights of Hero

Award winners at this year’s BFI include Landmarks (Best Film), The Travelers (Grierson Award for Documentary), One Woman One Bra (Sutherland Award for First Feature), and Coyotes (Short Film Award).
