– Best Narration –
Orwell: 2+2=5 led the pack with seven nominations including Best Documentary Feature for the 10th annual Critics Choice Documentary Awards gala event held Sunday, November 9, 2025 at the Edison Ballroom in Manhattan, New York.
The film took home two awards – Best Narration (written by George Orwell, adapted by Raoul Peck, performed by Damian Lewis) and Alexei Aigui for Best Score. Director Raoul Peck accepted the award on Damian’s behalf who was unable to attend that evening.
The film’s other nominations were Raoul Peck for Best Director, Alexandra Strauss for Best Editing, Best Archival Documentary, and Best Political Documentary. The Perfect Neighbor won Best Documentary Feature.
Also that evening, the Critics Choice Impact Award was given to legendary documentarian Ken Burns, presented by Christine Baranski. The award recognizes filmmakers whose work has illuminated history, inspired public discourse, and deepened cultural understanding — a legacy Burns has embodied throughout his decades-long career. Damian recently worked with Ken Burns in The American Revolution documentary, which also took home Best Historical Documentary that same evening.
The overall 31st annual Critics Choice Awards will be telecast live on USA networks E! and USA on Sunday, January 4, 2026 7:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT. The star-studded show will once again be held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California and will continue its combined film and television awards format, honoring the best in cinematic, televised, and streaming achievement.
Congratulations to all those involved on this project!
