Surprise! Damian has released his third single ‘Leech’ from his upcoming sophomore album Sweet Chaos.
If you’re one of the fortunate who received an Apple/iTunes notification late tonight like I did, then you know the full length song ‘Leech’ is now available for listening on music platforms.
To me, the musicality of the song begins and ends with almost a country twang sound, but leads into the chorus with a crescendo of rock-n-roll influence. Damian sings the majority of the lyrics in what I call song-rap. Then he slows it all down, not unlike Radiohead does with ‘Creep.’ I’m not a music critic, so what do I know? 😉
The song explores media intrusion into the private lives of celebrities. I imagine this scenario happened when Damian met a reporter for an interview in a public location, as he usually does, and he felt pounced upon and targeted about his recent family tragedy and grief.
Some of the lyrics I can make out, others are denoted by bold question marks:

stop pleasuring yourself with grief porn

I can’t help but think of that Radio Times reporter who recently pissed off Damian so much, that he left the interview 🙂
