– Sweet and Easy –
As you know, Damian is performing seven small gigs at album launch signings during the month of June to promote his new album Sweet Chaos. It was Sunday’s show on June 7 at St. Peter’s Church in Marlborough that had even more meaning.
A beautiful Band of Brothers moment was captured after the show when a member of the Barnes family met Damian during album signings. Jean, pictured below, is the granddaughter of Francis and Louie Barnes, who housed Dick Winters (played by Damian) and Harry Welsh in their home above the Post Office in neighboring Aldbourne during Easy Company’s time in England.
And that’s not all…
According to the Gazette and Herald, Paul Marriott and Debbie Roberts, who run The Blue Boar pub in Aldbourne, were also at the Marlborough show.
The pub owners explained, “We have American tour groups every weekend visiting the village and The Blue Boar is on their tour of Europe following Easy Company’s route throughout WWII. Aldbourne was Easy Company’s home for 8 months prior to D-Day and The Blue Boar was used as the officers pub.”
Marriott and Roberts asked Damian to sign some Band of Brothers and Easy Company memorabilia after the show.
“We were fortunate enough to meet Damian afterwards and he kindly signed some items for our 506th PIR Memory Wall here at The Blue Boar.”
