– Youth –
Outlets are reporting Damian will cameo in an episode of Youth, the new HBO original comedy set to stream on HBO Max UK and Ireland on September 21, 2026 and on Sunday, September 20 in the US on HBO and HBO Max.
Damian plays an obnoxious and pompous author attempting to write a ridiculously highbrow debut novel called Dog Meat, a social satire, in a pretentious bid to emulate the intellectual style of Stephen Fry, serving as a parody of bloated celebrity ego.
The Guardian states, “Damian Lewis, within 30 seconds of arriving on screen, has distilled everything that is bad about publishing, celebrity, London, private members’ clubs and the world.”
Cast mate Sharlene Whyte described what it was like when Damian arrived on set and how it is to work with him. Watch video interview below:
The lead of the 8-episode series is Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters on Apple TV) who plays a 50-year-old divorcee juggling dating life while working in the publishing industry and taking care of her parents and adult son.
Horgan said, “Everyone who came on to do their bits was influencing the show,” says Horgan. “I was writing it at the same time as making it, which was hell.” On the upside, it meant she was building relationships with her co-stars as she wrote, and incorporating those connections.
The Old Sessions House in London served as the filming location for Horgan’s character Alex’s publishing and literary agency. Its connection to the literary world is that Charles Dickens used this location as the courthouse that Oliver Twist appeared before in his novel.
Gordon Ramsay’s Asian-inspired restaurant Lucky Cat in Mayfair served as a filming location for one of Alex’s work meetings.
Some parts of the residential scenes were filmed in the borough of Islington, including Wenlock Road and Union Wharf.
Local reports indicate Youth may also have filmed in Sant Elm of Spain, but not much else is known about which scenes.
Sounds fun!
