Billions Season 1: First Takes | Damian Lewis & Paul Giamatti
Damian states, “The script was strongest script I had read in a while and I wanted to be a part of it.”
It’s quite fun playing a billionaire! I have been on more yachts, private jets, and helicopters than in my entire life in the space of the last two months.” – Damian Lewis
I know… I know! It’s already been a week but we just can’t stop talking about the weekend with Damian Lewis at New Yorker Festival! In case you missed it, we already covered both Damian Lewis in Conversation with Lauren Collins as well as Damian Lewis reading Lawrence Wright’s new play Cleo on the blog; however, there is still too much to talk about… And since we cannot wait for Damian’s new Showtime drama Billions hit our TV screens in a couple of months now, it’s appropriate to start with what Damian talks about when he talks about Billions!

Yesterday I interviewed Damian Lewis, star of Wolf Hall and Homeland, for Metro. What did I learn? That he has moved out of his house (formerly Hugh Laurie’s) in Tufnell Park. But only to get it decorated.
What else? That he has no plans to join the infamous ‘Primrose Hill set’. “No, I think we’ve decided we like where we are,” he told me from New York, where he’s shooting Billions, a new TV series from the makers of Homeland (out in January).
But perhaps most importantly, I learnt that he’s a fan of this very publication. Remarking that I lived locally, he said simply, “Do you write for the Kentishtowner? You should.”
When I asked if he was a fan, he said a definitive “yes.” So look, here I am.
Back to Damian: “I’ve lived in Kentish Town and Camden for most part of the last 10 years,” he continued, and he’s not lying: he’s oft spotted shopping in Parliament Hill Farmer’s Market, having a pint at The Junction, perusing the wetfish stand at Jonathan Norris, or tramping round the Heath with his wife, the actress Helen McCrory and kid.
“It’s a really lovely neighbourhood full of interesting and smart people who do a whole host of different jobs,” he said.
Couldn’t put it better myself.

Greed is most definitely good for Wall Street kingpin Damian Lewis in the latest trailer for his series Billions.
Showtime’s upcoming 12-part drama takes place in the fast-paced world of hedge funds, where traders play fast and loose with government regulations.
The king of this opulent world is Bobby ‘Axe’ Axelrod (Lewis), whose open defiance of the law makes him the target of a government investigation.
Aiming to bring him down is steadfast US Attorney Chuck Rhoades, played by Golden Globe winner Paul Giamatti. Their conflict threatens to rock the very foundations of the US financial market – and could lead to ruin for one or both.
