Bobby Axelrod Gets a New Secretary – Feb 28, 2018

What’s the Scoop for Billions Season Three

by David Bjorkgren, Editor | Hellenic News | February 28, 2018

Zina Wilde was born in London, England where she lived until age 4.  Her parents, raised in Thessaloniki, Greece returned there for Wilde’s childhood and early teen years. She came to the United States in 1998 to pursue her acting studies and a performing arts career.

These days, Wilde is busy playing the part of Helena on Showtime’s “Billions.” The show is about power politics in the world of high finance. Helena is the secretary for an ambitious hedge fund king, Bobby “Axe” Axelrod, played by Damian Lewis.  On Feb. 20, Wilde was filming Episode 11 of the show’s third season, which will start airing March 25. “You can see a lot of me on that season, more than in the second season,” she says. “It’s a very small role, but I’m there a lot because I play Damian’s secretary so whenever he’s around I’m always around.”

She’s happy to play a small part in the show’s success. “My co-workers are amazing,” she says. “Going to work with these people is an incredible gift.” This season, one of her acting idols, John Malkovich, is on the show. “Working with him is a dream.”

Six Shows That Were Seriously Overhauled After Their Stars Left

by Sam Ashurst & Morgan Jeffery | Digital Spy | February 28, 2018

If it’s broke, try to fix it. No one can do the same job forever, and actors are more keen to stretch their legs than most – doing different things is basically the job description. But sometimes telly shows want to carry on after their star leaves, going to drastic lengths to extend their shelf life.

Here’s some shows that managed to survive losing their star, thanks to some major plot overhauls.

Damian Lewis – Homeland

Damian Lewis was very much at the heart of Homeland when it started out – the first season was all about the investigation into his character Nick Brody, a US marine who’d been corrupted by terrorists, while the second run saw him exposed as a traitor and explored his redemption.

Come the third season, though, it was clear that the show’s writers were running out of things to do with him. Lewis appeared in just half of that year’s 12 episodes as a fugitive Brody, before Homeland took the bold decision to kill him off.

Billions

If you’ve no other reason to watch a third season of the alpha-male melodrama, it’s been announced that John Malkovich will guest star as a Russian billionaire. Who wouldn’t want to see him bring back his Teddy KGB accent from 1998 film Rounders? Nyet?

Season three finds US Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) and billionaire hedge fund manager Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) still determined to destroy one another – but the two must also battle for their own survival amid new forces and powerful enemies. In a risky move, Chuck’s wife and Axe’s performance coach Wendy (Maggie Siff), finds herself in the dangerous position of going all-in for both of them. Watch the trailer here. Premieres 25 March on Showtime.

Billions: Most Anticipated Show to Return to Showtime – Feb 14, 2018

New on Showtime: All the Movies and TV Coming in March

Source: Showtime – Photo: Jim Fiscus

We’ve reached that time of the month once more—that time when we look ahead to what we’ll be watching once another page comes off the calendar. The first of our streaming previews for the month of March comes from Showtime, which will be adding some noteworthy television shows and films before you know it. Read on to find out which.

Starting on the TV side of Showtime’s slate, the most anticipated March addition has to be the third season of the channel’s hit original drama Billions, from showrunners Brian Koppelman and David Levien. The series, which Showtime describes as a complex drama about power politics in the world of New York high finance, stars Oscar nominee (and Emmy and Golden Globe winner) Paul Giamatti as shrewd, savvy U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades and Emmy and Golden Globe winner Damian Lewis as brilliant, ambitious hedge fund king Bobby “Axe” Axelrod. Billions’ title alludes to the high financial stakes of the show, as Rhoades and Axelrod endeavor to destroy each other, and its latest season finds the two adversaries adjusting to a world that has shifted on its axis since the events of season two. The new season of Billions debuts on Sunday, March 25 at 10 p.m. EST.

Video: Damian Thinks It’s Weird That You’re Rooting for Axelrod – Feb 14, 2018

Billions‘ Damian Lewis Thinks It’s Weird That You’re Rooting for Bobby Axelrod

by Liam Mathews | TV Guide | February 14, 2018

There are a lot of great shows and movies about bad men from which people take the wrong lesson. Some guys wish they could be feared and respected like Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) or Walter White (Bryan Cranston). They wish they could live in Mad Men times because “men were men” then. They watch The Wolf of Wall Street and see the criminal excess as aspirational, failing to recognize that it’s a cautionary tale.

Those are exactly the kind of people who watch Billions and shout “Yo Bob-ay!” at Damian Lewis out of passing cars when they see him on the street. Lewis’ character, hedge fund titan Bobby “Axe” Axelrod, is not someone you’re supposed to root for. He’s a greedy crook who made millions by shorting airline stocks while his employees were dying on 9/11. So it’s weird to Lewis when wealthy women come up to him and say “you are playing my husband, did you know that?”

UPDATED March 28, 2018

by Jeff Baumgartner | Multichannel.com | March 28, 2018

Showtime said it’s the first cable network to launch an app on LG Electronics smart TVs that run webOS.

The launch, which includes access on LG’s new 2018 OLED TVs and Super UHD TVs with AI ThinQ built-in, spans both Showtime’s standalone OTT service (called SHOWTIME and sold for $10.99 per month) as well as Showtime Anytime, its authenticated TV Everywhere service that is part of a pay TV subscription.

Showtime said its standalone OTT service, launched in July 2015, has well over 2 million subscribers.

The app launch on LG smart TVs expands on Showtime’s streaming reach on other platforms that include Samsung smart TVs, Roku, Apple and Amazon devices, and the Xbox One console. Showtime is also distributed by vMVPDs and digital partners such as Hulu, YouTube TV, Sling TV, DirecTV Now, PlayStation Vue, fuboTV and Amazon Channels.
