VIDEO: Damian Lewis Sings “500 Miles” for Scottish Fans at Oxford Gig

Damian spontaneously sang “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” for Scottish fans who travelled to Oxford to see him. Amongst the crowd at the show were a couple of women who had travelled down from Scotland to watch the performance. The pair made Damian aware of this after shouting during a break between songs and given their nationality and the distance they had travelled, the singer replied hilariously. He spontaneously started to sing the classic Scottish song I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers for the pair. The women as well as the rest of the crowd were left stunned, but then joined in with singing and clapping as Damian and his band put on quite the show.  When finished he told the crowd in his best Scottish accent, “That’s just so you wouldn’t come up here and bust my ball bags!” Watch snippet of video below:

He discussed music, his debut album Mission Creep, his UK Tour Part 2 and playing upcoming sold-out shows. He may have also smooched a pooch while on set, and answered some corridor questions. Renowned for hit series like Homeland and Billions, once embarked on a journey across Europe with nothing but a tent, a guitar and a dream of becoming the next Elvis. Now, after decades of silver screen success and a tough couple of years that reminded him ‘life’s too short’, he’s revisiting his childhood rockstar dreams. He joins us in-studio to tell us about putting down the scripts and picking up the microphone stand as he continues his UK tour.

Damian Lewis Was Guest on Good Morning Britain

Damian guest appeared on Good Morning Britain show on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 to discuss his return to music with a new, second album expected at the end of the year and an upcoming UK tour starting this Friday!  He shared that he will be performing some of his new songs on this leg of the tour. He reflected on his days of busking in Europe, specially Paris and what songs he would cover, like David Bowie, Pink Floyd and Simon and Garfunkle (although not both parts 😉 ) Damian revealed to the hosts that he started classical guitar lessons when he was just 13-years-old, and he felt it very empowering to write his own songs for Mission Creep. Damian Lewis Announces New Tour Dates and Release of Second Album

British actor-turned-musician Damian Lewis has announced he will be embarking on a tour in March ahead of the release of a new album. The 52-year-old London-born actor, who starred in the TV series Homeland and 2019 comedy film Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood, has turned his hand to music in recent years. He released his debut album Mission Creep last year and will embark on a new set of tour dates, starting with a show in East Sussex at the Trading Boundaries on Friday March 8. Discussing the tour, Lewis said:

“Dry January at home? If you’re itching for some live music by March. I’m here to help. Me and the band are hitting the road again in March for The Mission Creep Tour Part 2. Can’t wait. Come!”

Lewis also revealed that plans are underway to release a second album this year. He said: “I’ll be playing my album Mission Creep, sure, but also sneaking in songs from my second album, which will be out later this year. That’s right: new year, new pants, new songs. See you there.”

A live cast recording of Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends will be released in the US and UK this Friday, December 8, 2023 on a 2-disc CD set and digital and streaming formats from First Night Records.

Actor and musician Damian Lewis sat down with editor-in-chief Geordie Greig on the set of ‘Music Box’ to talk about his change in direction from the acting stage to the music stage. Watch video interview here.

Lewis spoke about how a love of making music became more than just a hobby and the feeling of going out on stage to perform his own music felt. Lewis also spoke about the inspiration for his writing, as well as the impact of his wife Helen McCrory’s passing during the songwriting process.
