Damian guest appeared on Good Morning Britain show on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 to discuss his return to music with a new, second album expected at the end of the year and an upcoming UK tour starting this Friday! He shared that he will be performing some of his new songs on this leg of the tour. He reflected on his days of busking in Europe, specially Paris and what songs he would cover, like David Bowie, Pink Floyd and Simon and Garfunkle (although not both parts 😉 ) Damian revealed to the hosts that he started classical guitar lessons when he was just 13-years-old, and he felt it very empowering to write his own songs for Mission Creep. Damian was on Jazz FM Saturday show with Nigel Williams today, September 23, 2023 discussing his music, debut album Mission Creep and UK tour – with Brighton, Manchester and Leeds coming up next! During the segment Nigel played four of Damian’s songs: After Midnight (at 115:30), Hole in My Roof (at 122:36), She Comes (at 165:38) and Harvest Moon (at 173:47).
Nigel asked Damian if he had picked up anything from being around other musicians like Giacomo Smith. Damian replied, “You must surround yourself with people more talented than yourself at all times in whatever you do in life, and I’m doing that. What’s interesting, you know, is there are guys in our band – Giacomo is one of them – who write and are releasing their own records. Everyone is writing their own stuff but I’m the only person that writes songs. I’m the only lyricist. I think we all…I think they bring an immeasurable amount to me and I think pleasingly – and maybe a bit surprisingly – I bring something to them, which is an opportunity to play songs, written lyrical songs. And it’s a privilege and a joy to be in there with them.”

Damian shared that instead of a tour bus, they have a splitter van in which they play car Tetris fitting in all their equipment and band merch . He said their first gig of the tour in Nottingham at Rescue Rooms was an absolute joy. He went on to describe his album and music as a rootsy, storytelling, blues, and rock-n-roll feel to it, but the show is more rock-n-roll, much more rambunctious with a couple of reflective songs that are balladic moments. The audience seems to be having a good time and it’s been amazing fun. Up next, Birmingham! Then Jazz FM Breakfast played Damian’s cover of Harvest Moon.

Mission Creep and Billions

Damian made a guest appearance on the Lorraine Kelly Show (ITV) today, Tuesday, September 12, 2023, to discuss what he’s got in the pipeline as he and his band head out on tour in support of his debut album Mission Creep. Just seconds into the interview it was clear Lorraine and Damian were set to have a giddy time, as they joked about Damian taking home a Lorraine mug he seemed smitten with – only to learn he already had one in the his cupboard at home. When describing the series Billions, Damian cheerfully explained “It’s a show about arseholes being arseholes, every single one of them. Every person. And it’s about the corrupting influence of money, which is a good moral tale.” Watch that clip here.

Speaking on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with cinch about how he got started creating his album, the 52-year-old revealed he’d started out experimenting with covers before he ‘got bored’ and as a result started writing songs.
“And suddenly we had an album,” Damian said, before he summarised: “Decca [Records] showed an interest, they signed me, and now we’re going out on tour. That is the long and the short of it.”

A Spy Among Friends and Billions

Damian guest appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for S8, E81 on Monday, February 27, 2023 to promote the upcoming US release of his mini-series A Spy Among Friends available to stream on MGM+ beginning March 12. But Damian also made a HUGE announcement at the end of the segment. Let’s start at the beginning. Damian made his entrance as the band played Elvis “Suspicious Minds,” which is no coincidence if you know our Ginger! He waved and blew air kisses to the audience, took a bow before being seated and wore his lucky purple socks. When discussing A Spy Among Friends Damian asked, “Who doesn’t love a spy thriller?” Damian further explained he finds the total duplicity and ability to conceal simply fascinating, and a masterful skill. He spoke of working with the immaculate Guy Pearce who plays spy Kim Philby and how Philby is UK’s most infamous spy who betrayed his country to the Russians for 30 years.
Specifically, Damian explains how Nicholas Elliott (played by him) meets Philby in Beirut for an interrogation (and hopefully a confession) over four days. After Elliott’s superiors review the transcripts of the taped recordings of their meeting, they notice three minutes is missing when Elliott and Philby walk out on the balcony and no one knows what they really spoke about. All they do know is the next day, Philby escapes to Russia. Colbert played a clip of the scene between MI5 Agent Lily Thomas and Elliott upon Elliott’s return from Beirut. Damian jokingly claimed, “I only watch things I’m in.” Colbert asked Damian if he would make a good spy. Damian answered no and Colbert agreed he doesn’t think Damian would be a good spy because “a spy should be boring and you’re not, you’re too interesting.” Damian rubbed his heart in admiration and then Colbert quipped, “and a spy wouldn’t rub their own nipple in public.”

Prince’s Trust

Damian guest-appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 to discuss the Prince’s Trust, a charity he is an Ambassador for. With CoVid impacting education, training and employment for 18 months during the pandemic, many youth are left feeling uncertain about their prospects and children with Long CoVid are still at home without education, living with long-term health conditions.
The charity research found more than 60% of 16-25 year-olds are scared about the future. The Prince’s Trust is a youth charity that aims to bridge that gap by helping young people aged 11 to 30 get into jobs, education and training.
Did you catch @lewis_damian on @GMB earlier this week? He spoke on behalf of the #ClassOfCovid and stressed the importance of supporting this generation in finding meaningful employment.
