Billions Season 5 Split In Two – April 1, 2020

CoVid-19 Temporarily Suspends Filming

by Nellie Andreeva | Deadline | April 1, 2020

This is not an April Fool’s joke. Deadline reports Billions season five will split into two.

Showtime has made more adjustments to its schedule as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, which suspended all Hollywood production.

Black Monday and Billions, which were in production on their current/upcoming seasons when the shutdown occurred, will air partial seasons, with the rest of the episodes running at a later date after all production has been completed.

For both the unexpected spring finales will come at a natural point in the story arcs of their seasons. Showtime already two weeks ago moved in to stagger the remaining finished original episodes of Black Monday by shifting the comedy’s air pattern from two back-to-back new episodes premiering a week to one, beginning March 22, continuing through Sunday, April 12. The April 12 Episode 6 of Black Monday will be the last of the current batch.

Billions Has Become a Critics’ Darling – March 4, 2020

When Will Emmy Voters Notice?

by Greg Braxton | LA Times | March 3, 2020

“Billions,” Showtime’s acclaimed drama about the cutthroat world of New York finance and politics, is about to launch its fifth season in May, just in time to catch the wave of an election season in which two billionaires are running for president.

But although real-life billionaire Mark Cuban has made a few appearances on the show playing himself, don’t expect President Donald Trump or Democratic candidate Mike Bloomberg to make any cameos during the upcoming season. The same goes for billionaire Tom Steyer, who dropped out of the race after his largely self-financed campaign failed to catch fire in the South Carolina primary.

Not that “Billions” needs them. The series already has more than enough political intrigue and razor-sharp personal dynamics in the blood feud pitting federal government watchdog Charles “Chuck” Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) against wealthy hedge-fund king Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (Damian Lewis).

And producers suggest the stakes will be even higher this season with the addition to the cast of Julianna Margulies (“The Good Wife”) and Corey Stoll (“House of Cards”).

“There is no doubt this season features titanic figures at each other’s throat[s],” said “Billions” executive producer Brian Koppelman, who runs the series with fellow executive producer David Levien. “People are coming up against figures of equal size, which makes these conflicts life-and-death — existential.”

Bobby Axelrod and Wendy Rhoades: A Special Relationship, Part VII – March 2, 2020

Why Wendy Rhoades is Bobby Axelrod’s Most Deadly Weapon

by Damianista | Fan Fun with Damian Lewis | March 2, 2020

Damian Lewis and Maggie Siff bring to life one of the most intriguing and complex relationships we have ever seen on TV. It is sincere and it is strategic. It is friendly and it is flirty. It is personal and it is professional. It is delicate. It is difficult. It is delicious. The first three seasons have revealed there is no romance in their relationship, but there is real partnership. Bobby and Wendy find meaning in what they built together and can draw the best out of each other. In case you missed my earlier posts on these two, you can find them herehereherehere, here, and here.

Season 4 is a true testament to why Axe values Wendy at a level where he is even willing to go to jail for her. Do not get me wrong, loyalty rules Bobby Axelrod’s world and he can drop Wendy in a millisecond should he suspect any disloyalty as he did in Season 1 Finale. But as long as he trusts Wendy is one loyal confidante and also the smartest person in the room, there is nothing Axe will not do to keep Wendy safe and happy. And the key is in his words to Wendy in Season 4 Episode 10 New Year’s Day where Bobby remembers the exact time and place he knew Wendy was a keeper. Filthy Rich: 5 Reasons Billions is Better Than Succession (and vise versa) – March 2, 2020

From the Dialogue to the Plot Twists

by Philip Etemesi | Screen Rant | March 1, 2020

A case can be made for Don Cheadle’s new Wall Street comedy Black Monday but the two TV shows that currently bring out the best of the world of cutthroat business dealings and wealth are HBO’s Succession and Showtime’s Billions. The two TV shows share plenty of similar themes but a couple of things set them apart.

In Succession, family drama blends with corporate setbacks. Media tycoon Logan Roy’s health declines and his four children all try to win his favor in order to take over the empire when daddy is no longer around. In Billions, billionaire hedge fund manager Bobby “Axe” Axelrod is hunted down by US Attorney Chuck Rhoades for insider training before the two team up to fight common enemies. Here’s an argument for both shows as the better one.

The O Gap and S&M Dalliances

by Ileane Rudolph | TV Insider | February 28, 2020

The age-old feud between New York Attorney General Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) and finance mogul Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) has reignited in Season 5 of the Showtime drama Billions, but it’s Chuck’s personal life that piques our interest: While a guest lecturer at Yale, he crosses paths with sociology professor Catherine “Cat” Brant, played by recurring guest Julianna Margulies.

She fills us in.

How do the pair meet?

Julianna Margulies: She wrote a bestseller called The O Gap, about women’s orgasms. She’s lecturing on the speech Chuck gave [last season] when he was blackmailed about his S&M dalliances, and asks if he’ll come to her class and let her and her students ask him questions.

Does Cat have a hidden dark side?
