An Englishman in New York
by Damianista | damian-lewis.com | February 22, 2023
Damian and Alison took a rainy stroll in Washington Square Park in New York City on February 22, 2023. We are thrilled to see Damian back in the Big Apple and can’t help wonder if this trip is all about spending time with Alison or whether Damian has business while in town. Remember, he was spotted filming on the set of Billions in London back in November and our fingers are crossed for him to appear in Season 7 more than once! In addition, Damian’s new mini-series A Spy Among Friends is coming to MGM+ on March 12 in the US so he could be in town to promote the series. And of course, he could also be in town to promote his upcoming solo album due out later this June. And we think they went ice skating! View more photos in our Gallery here.
But seeing Damian carry an umbrella, the first thing that comes to mind is…

by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | February 15, 2023
Whether it was in celebration of his recent birthday last week, a family vacation or both, Damian took a train to The Alps last week and no doubt with kiddos in tow since London schools have their Spring half-term break. As seen in this photo, Damian was spotted at Chalet d’altitude Le Grand Lac restaurant located in Les Menuires, France. Our athletic Ginger has become a snow bunny because this time last year he was traversing the slopes of the Western Dolomites in Italy!

Written By GingersnapComments Off on Tufnell Park: The Pretty North London ‘Village’ Loved by Celebrities Like Damian Lewis
Where Neighbours Always Help Each Other Out
by Nicole Karageorgi | My London | February 1, 2023
Tufnell Park is a quiet ‘village’ but has a lot to offer – you might even spot a famous face. North London has its fair share of celebrities who call areas like Hampstead, Chalk Farm, and Highgate home. But, lying between Holloway, and busy Kentish Town is a quiet ‘village’ that’s loved by celebrities and has its very own stop on the Northern line.
Tufnell Park has been described by those who work and live there as a ‘wonderful place’ with an ‘amazing sense of community’. The neighbourhood straddles the London Boroughs of Islington and Camden. It was historically used for dairy farming, and acted as an important base for distributing dairy around Central London.
The manor of Barnsbury, which is said to have stood where the Odeon Cinema is today, was inherited by William Tufnell in 1753, which is how Tufnell Park got its name. The estate later passed to other brothers, before it was eventually inherited by Henry Tufnell. Henry sponsored the development of housing in the area in 1845.
Today, the neighbourhood is a quiet village where ‘everyone knows everyone’ and residents love to help each other out. If you pass through, you might come across a few celebrities. The likes of actor Damian Lewis, TV presenter, Jon Snow, and Madness singer, Suggs are said to live there.

FeedNHS: Sharing Honor With Helen
by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | December 14, 2022
Damian was honored with Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to drama and charity on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Windsor Castle, which was bestowed upon him by King Charles III. His daughter Manon and son Gulliver attended their father’s ceremony, as well as Helen’s parents Iain and Anne. And did you notice Damian wore his purple socks? 🙂
The recognition was previously announced during the Queen’s Birthday Honours in anticipation of her Platinum Jubilee in June 2022 and published in the official public record of The Gazette. Damian has quietly carried out philanthropic work for several charities over many years, some of it with the late Helen McCrory. Beginning in 2020, he and Helen helped raise over £1.2 million for the FeedNHS campaign, a coalition charity helping feed NHS staff and frontline workers during the CoVid-19 pandemic, which allowed over 40,000 meals a day to be served to 100 hospitals.
The Royal recognition comes after Damian was awarded an OBE by The Duke of Cambridge Prince William at Buckingham Palace in 2014 for contributions to drama. In addition to CureEB, he is an Ambassador and Patron for a number of organizations, including youth charities Sir HvH Arts Foundation for The McCrory Award and The Prince’s Trust.
An Investiture is the very special day when someone who has been awarded an honour receives their award in person from a Member of the Royal Family. The investee visits a Royal residence with members of their family to receive their insignia.

Four Out of Five Stars
by John Bungey | The Times | November 21, 2022
Jazz in all its forms — from funky to free-form, catchy to headscratchy — enjoyed its 30th annual splurge in the capital with 300-plus festival gigs by assorted stars of the genre — and one gatecrashing film star.
On the final night, a festival debutant with an album out next year wowed the crowd at the Tabernacle, Notting Hill. Quite why the actor Damian Lewis’s show of rocking, rootsy Americana should be part of a jazz festival is anyone’s guess. But his own songs had real flair and if “the acting malarkey”, as he called it, ever fails, his Martin guitar will prove a useful fallback.

by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | November 3, 2022
While Damian was in Nashville, TN last week he stopped by Gruhn Guitars, the world’s premier guitar store specializing in vintage instruments since 1970, and picked up a new Martin Gruhn Special 28-style guitar. As their Instagram post indicates, “He’s clearly a fan of the Adirondack top and bracing. And, it didn’t cost him billions!” Damian shared a picture on his Instagram account of his new D28 Martin stating, “If it’s good enough for Neil Young, Dylan and the Beatles…” We couldn’t agree more, Damian!

Damian was spotted on the move again departing from a Louisiana airport on Sunday, October 30, 2022 after his recent Halloween celebrations in New Orleans. And he looks to be sporting a fresh haircut 🙂 We assume he’s headed back to London since the children’s half-term break is over and school is back in session.
Plus A Spy Among Friends should be hitting ITVX in November – we just need the trailer!

From Music Row to Bourbon Street

Damian and Alison hit The Big Easy in matching costumes for some Halloween festivities and now we know the backstory of this pink suit! Earlier this week Damian was in Nashville buying a new guitar based on his Instagram post and now he’s in New Orleans, no doubt checking out the jazz music scene in both cities. I hope he tried Nashville’s hot chicken and some crawdads or Beignets while visiting the French Quarter.

Graffiti Street Art
by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | October 22, 2022
Damian was recently photographed with the MurWalls Team, a group of internationally licensed British street artists creating projects in homes, business and schools. They work with world-renowned brands to provide truly personal artwork of the highest quality. Sir HvH Arts Foundation, a charity Damian and the late Helen McCrory are a Patron of, admires their work. One can only wonder if this could lead to a mural honoring The McCrory Award. However, Sir HvH Arts has a graffiti art program as well. MurWalls not only gives businesses a perfect medium for making a statement, but also charities and community organizations.
