The Showtime series Billions has returned to Westchester County for filming. Today, the production filmed at Yonkers City Hall, 40 S. Broadway. Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano tweeted how great it was to catch a picture with Damian and fellow castmate Condola Rashad.

The series has been seen filming continuously in Yonkers which is fitting considering Damian Lewis’ character (Bobby Axelrod) grew up in the city. Scenes for prior seasons have also been filmed at Empire City Casino and Glenwood power station. In years past the show has also been seen filming at Rye Playland, in Orangeburg and White Plains.

Both Billions and Homeland Make the List

by Staff | Los Angeles Times | January 1, 2020

Television … now more than ever: To paraphrase the satirical film studio slogan of Robert Altman’s “The Player,” TV’s dominant mode these days is the avalanche, the deluge, the endless binge. But even amid the clutter of 500-some scripted and countless unscripted series, there’s plenty to be excited about, including originals from nascent (or still-to-be-launched) platforms like Apple TV+, HBO Max and Quibi. Let the Times TV team help you plan your viewing schedule with this list of our 20 most anticipated new and returning shows of 2020.

Billions

The searing drama about the high-stakes battle between federal government watchdog Charles Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) and cocky billionaire Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (Damian Lewis) incorporated a clever twist in its fourth season when Axe became consumed with destroying his former protégé, Taylor Mason (Asia Kate Dillion), who left him to form their own hedge fund firm. In a complicated scheme, Axe blackmailed Taylor and wiped them out, forcing them to return to Axe’s firm. Though Taylor is chastened, they vow to work from within to take down Axe and Rhoades, setting up another lethal war. Upping the ante are Julianna Margulies (“The Good Wife”) and Corey Stoll (“House of Cards”), who join the cast. (Showtime, TBA) —Greg Braxton

Billions Season 5: What We Know – Dec 31, 2019

Major Cast Additions In Upcoming Season, Plot Details, And Release Date

by Divya Tiwari | TV Season Spoilers | December 31, 2019

The said unsaid battles would continue in upcoming Billions Season 5. Fans of the show are anticipating a lot from the next run of Showtime drama. In May 2019, the series was renewed for a fifth season, when the fourth season of Billions was still airing.

Billions is a thriller drama series of Showtime, created by Brian Kopelman, David Levine, and Andrew Ross Sorkin. The series is loosely based on the activities of Preet Bharara, the former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and his legal battles with hedge fund manager Steve Cohen of S.A.C. Capital Advisors. Largely, Billions received quite positive reviews from the critics and the audience. Not just this, the show also got nominated for several awards, including Satellite Awards, Golden Nymph Awards, Critic’s Choice Television Awards, and more.

Billions: Most Underappreciated Quality Series on Television

by Mark Dawidziak | Cleveland.com | December 29, 2019

This was the year, long predicted, when we reached about 500 scripted television shows. Clinching the record were the fall launches of such high-profile streaming services as Disney Plus and Apple TV Plus.

Let’s put that in some kind of perspective. That’s 500 scripted comedies and dramas (or some mixture of both), which doesn’t count the hundreds of other shows that fall into the reality, game show, documentary, news, talk, magazine, sports or any of the many other programming formats found on the traditional networks, PBS, cable channels and streaming services.

Compare that with the total number of shows currently running on Broadway (33) or the number of new Broadway productions this year (38). Or compare that to the total number of American films that will be released this year: 230.

With more original scripted TV shows being released than there are days of the year, chances are you — like us — are using the holidays to catch up on hidden gems you may have missed. There are so many different ways to categorize what makes great TV: it could be a recommendation from a trusted friend, buzz around a major title or even the suggestion of a media outlet you like and respect.

In the spirit of the latter category, we have gathered up the 14 best-reviewed scripted TV shows of the year according to review aggregate website Metacritic. These series met universal acclaim from the critics who reviewed them, ranging from long-running series like Veep and Billions to newcomers like Undone and Back to Life.
