by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | October 25, 2022

As reported earlier, Damian is part of the 2022 Jury for UK’s Raindance Film Festival this year. The festival runs from October 26 – November 5, 2022 and organizers have announced on social media that Damian has accepted a posthumous Icon Award in tribute to Helen McCrory. Helen served on the Raindance Jury back in 2011. The Radio Times reports Damian said:

“I’m honoured to accept the posthumous Raindance Icon Award on Helen’s behalf. She’d be pleased as punch to be receiving it. There was no more fiercely independent spirit than Helen and in her attitude towards work. She loved her time on the Raindance jury and being able to view films made with that same liberated energy. Raindance and Helen – it’s a perfect match.”

VIDEO: Damian Lewis Joined Lodge Kerrigan for Keane Q&A in NYC

Keane Q&A

Damian seen at Keane 4K screening on Saturday, August 20, 2022. Blue suede shoes with purple socks and all 🙂 Watch the complete Q&A video below and see more photos from the event in our gallery here.

Moderated by Christopher Abbot, Damian and director Lodge Kerrigan joined viewers for an in-person Q&A on Saturday, August 20, 2022 after the 6:30 p.m. screening of the 2004 movie Keane at Film Lincoln Center in New York City.  One audience member shared, “The restoration of the 2004 film was stunning. Damian’s performance was incredibly moving. And, the Q&A with Director Lodge [Kerrigan] was a massive treat.”

Grasshopper Film snapped up distribution rights to the critically acclaimed pic for the U.S. theatrical release, which is executive produced by Steven Soderbergh and produced by Andrew Fierberg.  As previously reported here, the movie will also get a release in Los Angeles on August 28 and Boston on September 23. In addition, the movie is expected to be released on VOD, TV and home video soon. (The movie received a limited theatrical release in New York back in 2005.)

Keane turns on William Keane (Lewis) who is struggling to cope six months after his six-year-old daughter was abducted from New York City’s Port Authority Bus Terminal while traveling with him. Repeatedly drawn to the site of the abduction, Keane wanders the bus station, compulsively replaying the events of that fateful day as if hoping to change the outcome. When one day he meets a financially strapped woman, Lynn Bedik (Amy Ryan), and her seven-year-old daughter, Kira (Abigail Breslin), at a transient hotel, Keane becomes increasingly attached to Kira and uses her to fill the void left by his own daughter’s disappearance.

Soccer Aid 2022: England vs World XI

United By Play

by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | June 12, 2022

If you thought the World Cup was going to be the biggest sporting event of the year, think again because the world’s biggest celebrity football match Soccer Aid is back! The annual star-studded charity football match returned today, Sunday, June 12, 2022, playing at West Ham’s London Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, but not before training sessions at Champneys Tring in Wigginton, North Yorkshire days prior.

There were footballing greats and celebrities involved in this year’s game, and off-pitch the show was presented by UNICEF UK Ambassador Dermot O’Leary, joined by Maya Jama and Lionesses legend Alex Scott returned as pitch-side reporter. Kick-off began at 7:30 p.m. BST and coverage of the event aired on ITV television, with streaming available via ITV website and ITV Hub.

There was even a half-time musical performance from Soccer Aid founder Robbie Williams, who performed his famous hit ‘Angels’ and an appearance from UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador David Beckham.

During arrivals at London Stadium Damian had a short interview and predicted the match result as 4-1 in England’s favor. While on the pitch he further elaborated and claimed England would indeed win it. He was asked if it was a coincidence that England lost without him in the last three years and he said it was one of the biggest coincidences. 😉  View video of that portion here. At the half-time mark the match was tied 1-1 as Damian donned jersey number 66 and played in the second half. He missed a sitter, as he looked certain to score, but dragged the shot wide. Damian looked stunned and gutted! And we were gutted for him. At 84 minutes in, Damian spotted Tom Grennan’s dart into the area but he was offside. Going into tonight’s match the two teams were tied with five wins each after 10 matches, yet this match ended in a 2-2 draw at full-time, going into penalties. World XI scored four penalties and England scored one. The winning Team was World XI, with a final score of 6-3. Sorry Damian! See Damian’s score prediction here.
