Helen’s Sweet Soccer Aid Gesture
by Rebecca Davison | Mail Online | June 9, 2022
Actor Damian Lewis paid a moving tribute to his late wife Helen McCrory on Good Morning Britain on Thursday saying, “She’s with us.”
The star, who’s taking part in Sunday’s Soccer Aid, revealed how Helen was always his biggest supporter – and GMB hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shepherd shared their memories of the Peaky Blinders actor who passed away from cancer in April 2021 aged 52. Ben began by saying:
“The first time I met you and your lovely wife Helen away from work was at Soccer Aid many years ago in Manchester and you were there with the family and the kids. She was always such a vociferous supporter of you and everything you did. Kate and I were very honoured to be at her memorial service just a few weeks ago. I’d imagine you’ve been very moved by the outpouring of love and support that has been shown towards her since she sadly passed away.”
Damian replied, “Well, She was a fabulous human being and people from all walks of life have been in touch to say what an impact she had on their lives.”

by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | May 15, 2022
More than 500 horses and 1,000 performers took part in a 90-minute programme for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration, marking the momentous occasion of 70 years on the throne. She officially hit the milestone back on February 6th, with celebrations happening throughout 2022. A variety of stage stars took part in the televised theatrical arena event, broadcast on ITV and ITV Hub from the grounds of Windsor Castle in Berkshire on May 15, 2022, as Britbox North America live streamed the event to viewers in the United States and Canada. The event took place from 8:00 p.m. to about 10:40 p.m. local UK time.
Helen Mirren took on the role of Elizabeth I (fitting, given she played Elizabeth II on stage) alongside Omid Djalili as The Herald, a character who introduces a cast of Queen’s Players, in the first of four acts charting the modern history of the nation. Damian Lewis opened the evening (video below), and Tom Cruise and Adjoa Andoh all served as hosts for the other acts. Musical guests included Gregory Porter, Maureen Lipman, Katherine Jenkins of Wales who sang Calon Lan and David Jason at various intervals throughout the night. Each act reflected on key moments in history, including Elizabeth I’s Tilbury Speech and James I and the Gunpowder Plot.

Television Film: Global Child-Trafficking
by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | November 17, 2021
Finally! Ten years after it’s release, Stolen starring Damian Lewis, Vicky McClure and Jo Hartley is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime here.
A fast-paced thriller about child trafficking in Britain. Anthony Carter (Lewis) is a detective inspector battling to make a difference to the plight of exploited children smuggled into the UK.
When Anthony encounters Rosemary, a terrified 10 year old girl from West Africa, sold as a house slave, he vows to keep her safe from the traffickers, but in doing so, Anthony risks his own and his child’s life.
Full storyline: D.I. Anthony Carter works in the police Human Trafficking Unit and on his office wall he has photos of children brought into the country under false pretenses and subjected to slave working conditions. Rosemary, aged 10 – the same age as Anthony’s daughter – arrives from Lagos believing she will be afforded an education so she destroys her passport to avoid repatriation. She will be sold as a house servant and forced into submission by her handlers.
Fifteen-year-old Kim Pak from Vietnam, whose gardening skills are exploited, is made to grow cannabis in an artificially-lit factory. And Georgie, a fourteen-year-old Ukrainian works as a sandwich-maker. Anthony’s job is not only oppressive, but it can be dangerous. His wife is threatened by traffickers and sadly, at least one of the trio will never see freedom and their homeland again. An end title dismisses any false optimism as it reports the lucrative turn-over in global child-trafficking.
