“A Sprawling Tale of Counterculture California and the Final Days of Hollywood’s Golden Age”
by K. Austin Collins | Vanity Fair | January 25, 2019
Quentin Tarantino was six years old and living in the Los Angeles area when, in the summer of 1969, hell broke loose. You know this story: five people murdered over the course of two days that August, shot and stabbed by a clan of hippie impressionables in anticipation of Helter Skelter, Charles Manson’s idea of holy terror. It’s a Hollywood tale—not least because its most famous victim, the pregnant actress Sharon Tate, was the wife of director Roman Polanski, which put the terror square in the back lot’s backyard.
But it’s a Hollywood story for bigger reasons. This was an era, not merely an event; a lifestyle, a people, a widespread obsession—not merely a spot on a timeline or map. The city is a sprawl. So was 1969. And so is the work of Quentin Tarantino, whose last three movies were violent but (mass Nazi execution notwithstanding) playful excursions into history, all of them riffs on the deviant style and rough talkiness of the Westerns Tarantino loves, even the Dirty Dozen-esque World War II picture Inglourious Basterds, in which a motley troop of American badasses, a mock-Tennessean Brad Pitt at its helm, takes its grievances out on Nazi skulls.

Ford Nation of Toronto
by Damianista | Fan Fun with Damian Lewis | November 19, 2018
Rob Ford was no ordinary mayor. He was regularly involved in controversy from 2010 to 2014 as he ran the city of Toronto. Ford was, in particular, repeatedly videotaped and photographed while intoxicated in public, culminating in his being recorded smoking crack cocaine as reported by the Kevin Donovan and Robyn Doolittle of the Toronto Star. The Star won the Michener Award, one of the highest distinctions in Canadian journalism, for the investigative journalism.
“The Toronto Star exposed Ford’s public drunkenness, boorish behavior, abuses of his office, and existence of a video of him smoking crack cocaine accompanied by members of drug gang. The Star did not waver as the mayor countered every story with vehement denials and attacks.”
Well, some dreams come true and we have been living the dream since we got word late April that Damian Lewis would play the iconic Hollywood actor Steve McQueen in Quentin Tarantino’s latest movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood!
As our long-time readers know, we have been rooting for Damian to play Steve McQueen for more than three years now. JaniaJania wrote this article about why Damian Lewis should play Steve McQueen when we got word back in 2015 that a Steve McQueen biopic was in works. And she also tweeted a question to be asked to Damian at NY Times Talks in 2016 about whether he would consider playing McQueen.

Our Kind of Traitor: A Behind the Scenes Filming Location
by Betty Wood | The Spaces | November 9, 2018
The home of MI6 agent Hector Meredith, played by Damian in the 2016 adaptation of John Le Carre’s Our Kind of Traitor, has been listed as ‘Property of the Week’ for a cool £1.495m.
The three-bedroom Langton Way property was built to a design by architects Peter Foggo and David Thomas in the early 1960s and is nestled, almost hidden, behind an inconspicuous brick wall in London’s Blackheath. The midcentury home has cocooning timber-lined interiors with rooms that are packed with warm wooden surfaces, including maple floors and pine ceilings. Floating cedar partitions informally divide its open-play layout while floor-to-ceiling glass bookends the main living spaces, creating sight-lines to its leafy garden. There is a wood-burning stove and white-washed brick walls, and a huge skylight channels light into the living room. Take a tour and view the slideshow here.

And finally, another fan reported on Twitter that Billions was filming that evening:
Excellent dinner at Sparks Steak House for my first night in NY. Then come out to find they’re filming a scene for Billions. So, @lewis_damian, what time at @Carra23’s bar in the morning for the @LFC game?
Damian Lewis and David Costabile pose for a picture at the Carlyle Hotel in New York on Thursday evening, September 13, 2018. Costabile plays Wags, Axe’s lieutenant and right-hand man on Showtime’s hit series Billions, which is currently filming season four. Then later that evening, another photo surfaced indicating the filming had been occurring all day outside.

Back to Billions
by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | August 27, 2018
Billions is back! The first table read of season four was held Monday, August 27, 2018. According to co-creater Brian Koppelman’s tweet, he and fellow co-creator David Levien, as well as much of the entire cast read aloud the teleplay for episode 401.
Tomorrow is the first table read of season 4 of #Billions. Pretty much the entire cast will gather, along with David and me, and a few other producers, and they will read aloud the teleplay we have written for episode 401. This is one of the days I most look forward to.

A New COO for TM Capital
by Rick Porter | The Hollywood Reporter | August 27, 2018
Taylor Mason Capital is getting some reinforcement in the fourth season of Showtime’s Billions.
Samantha Mathis (The Strain) has joined the series for a season-long arc. She’ll play Sara Hammon, the new COO of Taylor Mason Capital. She’s brought on board by Taylor (Asia Kate Dillon) to help run the newly formed company and protect it — and Taylor — from Axe’s (Damian Lewis) aggression.
Taylor likely has good reason to be concerned, as the third-season finale saw the character leaving Axe Capital to start a new firm — with a few billion dollars in capital Axe thought was headed his way.
