The Vogue editor-in-chief was among the high net worth guests who turned out to toast the Wall Street-themed drama’s Feb. 19 return on Showtime. Knicks coach Phil Jackson and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft also made the rounds at the screening and party, appropriately held at the venue across the street from Wall Street’s iconic charging bull sculpture.

Showtime CEO David Nevins gave a shout-out to co-creators and showrunners Brian Koppelman and David Levien for their deft touch in delivering the “Billions” mix of sudsy drama and heady commentary on the 1% and their discontents. The show’s already large ensemble cast — anchored by Lewis, Paul GiamattiMaggie Siff and Malin Akerman — has been enhanced this year with such notable additions as Eric BogosianChristopher DenhamJames Wolk and Asia Kate Dillon. It took Koppelman and Levien a few minutes to call out all of the actors assembled for the screening — and to give a little good-natured ribbing to Giamatti for missing the event.

Billions Celebrates Its Season Two Premiere in Style – Feb 14, 2017

Damian and Company

Billions, the Showtime series about a billionaire hedge-funder and a hard-charging U.S. Attorney, held its second season premiere in a perfectly apt venue—the ornate Cipriani in the Financial District, opposite the famous bull statue.

At the splashy premiere, where guests supped on Billions-inspired elit Vodka cocktails, Damian Lewis (who was slightly late because he was stuck in traffic after an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers) joined Anna Wintour, Eric Bogosian, Carla Gugino, Robert Kraft, Danny Strong, Jerry O’Connell, Maggie Siff and Malin Akerman.

Malin Akerman admitted that getting to play a billionaire’s wife has one delicious perk.“It’s quite exciting to wear these beautiful clothes,” she explained. “I’m a shoe and purse person, so they come in with these beautiful shoes and bags and we get to borrow them, so I feel pretty fabulous.”

Akerman said her favorite item so far has been a pair of blue suede Balenciaga boots. And as for personal purchases, The Heartbreak Kid actress explained that since she became a mom four years ago to son Sebastian, she doesn’t splurge on pricey items like she used to.

“I did buy a pair of Yves Saint Laurent little boots with fringe because they’re switching designers and I just felt like I wanted to invest in something that I’ll wear a lot,” she confessed. “They’re very expensive and there was a bit of guilty feelings as a mom, but I thought, you know what? I work hard, so every now and then I can give myself something.”

Signature Cocktails Served at the Billions Season 2 Premiere Party – Feb 13, 2017

Signature Cocktails Served at the Billions Season 2 Premiere Party

by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | February 13, 2017

Want the inside scoop about the Billions premiere party?  We have the skinny! It was both fashionable and elite.

As the advert states, “The best assets are liquid” …liquid gold that is!

Damian attended the Billions Season Two Premiere party on February 13, 2017 at New York’s Cipriani’s. The event was hosted by elit Vodka® and came complete with a signature cocktail menu that could wet any billionaire’s appetite!

elit® created a namesake drink called “The Bobby” which was aptly named after the character Bobby Axelrod, whom Damian plays on Showtime’s Billions.

“The Bobby” is three parts white truffle infused elit Vokda® and a dash of dry vermouth, served in a frozen martini glass with a truffle cheese-stuffed olive for garnish. Yes please!

Other signature cocktails on the menu were the Liquid Asset, The Acquisition, The Merger, The Takeover and Blood in the Water.

Let’s dissect each signature drink on the menu:

Liquid Asset ingredients are elit Vodka® sprinkled with gold flakes. That’s right, edible gold flakes!

The Acquisition has elit Vodka®, Aperol, St. Germain and fresh ruby red grapefruit juice.

The Merger, which I personally made at home while hosting my own Billions season two premiere party, contains elit Vodka®, fresh tangerine juice, Prosecco and a squeeze of lemon. It was to die for. Don’t take my word for it. You can now make it yourself.

The Takeover has elit Vodka®, Campari, agave syrup, fresh lime juice and fresh grapefruit juice. I’ll take two please!

And the Blood in the Water drink contained elit Vodka®, Lillet Rose and orange bitters.

And what genius marketing idea but to have Fashion Vignettes in New York Saks Fifth Avenue stores on February 28. Axe’s style is more laid back, with cashmere undershirt and tennis shoes, where as Chuck’s style is typical suit and tie with pocket square.

Cheers!

Damian Lewis: The King of the Box Set – February, 2017

How Homeland Star Mr. Damian Lewis Struck Gold for a Second Time with Billions

by Mr. Simon Mills | Mr. Porter | February, 2017

He’s a truly transatlantic citizen, is Mr. Damian Lewis. A nationality-fluid, dual persona – a true Brit for half the year and an Uncle Sam adoptee the rest of it. He may have been born in north London, educated at Eton College and served his time at the Royal Shakespeare Company, but when filming scenes as Marine Sergeant Nicholas Brody in Homeland or, more recently, as hedge fund hustler Bobby Axelrod in the Showtime series Billionsthe Style Council member embeds himself culturally and linguistically in North American life – goes to ball games, wears “sweats” and “sneakers” and calls women (ironically) “broads”.

The accent he adopts for the character he’s playing isn’t dropped when the filming stops. He keeps it going when talking to the crew and catering and stays in full American drawl for interviews, taxi rides, grocery shops and restaurant orders. Really good actors can do this kind of thing. Mr. Lewis says it helps him focus on the roles in hand and puts everyone at ease on set. Jumping in and out of accents, he says, would feel “awkward”. But not everyone is impressed. “I once did a US TV interview in my American accent and somehow it was seen by quite a few of my friends back in England. There were several irate text messages. ‘You’re British. Stop talking like an American!’ It has become second nature to me now and I am happy to do it,” he shrugs. “That said, if I am with Brits, I come out of it pretty quickly.”

Billions Won’t Be Political Commentary in Season 2 – Jan 9, 2017

Billions Won’t Be Political Commentary in Season 2

by Malcolm Venable  – TV Guide – January 9, 2017

Source: Showtime

You may have heard that there’s a new adminstration coming to Washington, D.C., pretty soon — a regime that, in many people’s eyes, is much more friendly to billionaires and business and their not-always warm and fuzzy ways. And although Billions, Showtime’s gritty drama about U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) and his battle with hedge fund king Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis), is about big ballers dodging government officials, don’t look for it to be a statement on the new world order when it returns for Season 2 in February.

“Although it’s not specifically about the incoming administration, the world was shifting when writing and we were aware of that,” executive producer Brian Koppelman said at the Television Critics Association winter previews Monday.

He’s known for his role in Billions playing the ambitious manager of a hedge fund Bobby ‘Axe’ Axelrod.

But English actor Damian Lewis, 45, has revealed the lavish lifestyle led by his character is a stark contrast to the life he leads off screen.

Speaking to TV Week, Damian said that although he enjoys playing the role of a rich business man, money isn’t that important to him or his family.

‘We don’t think money is terribly important in our family.

‘I spend money on my children’s school fees, and I just renovated my house but I don’t own a second home or have a yacht.’
