One in a Billion: Cigar Aficionado Interview – Jan 1, 2016

Killer Charm and Killer Instinct

by Marshall Fine | Cigar Aficionado | January/February 2016 Issue

Heads turn as Damian Lewis strides into a Le Pain Quotidien franchise in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.

Lewis, in sunglasses, walks the length of the restaurant unmolested to a table in the rear. It’s mid-afternoon and the lunchtime crowd has thinned on this summery late-October day. Still, it seems an unlikely place to meet one of the hottest actors in television. Asked how he happened to choose this particular spot to meet, Lewis, sunglasses now off, smiles quizzically and says, “I thought you chose it.”

Tall and surprisingly rangy, Lewis has a slow grin, and blue eyes that can look both warm and icily transparent in the right light. His coppery hair actually appears to have a slightly chestnut cast this particular day. Normally Lewis is the most recognizable red-haired actor working today.

Wall Street Gets Its First TV Show with ‘Billions’

by Serena Elavia –  FOXBusiness – December 31, 2015

In an age where political shows like ‘House of Cards’ and ‘Madame Secretary’ dominate television, it seems that a Wall Street plot has been ignored by the small screen. On January 1, 2016, Showtime Networks (CBS) aired an early showing of ‘Billions’ starring ‘Homeland’s’ Damian Lewis playing hedge fund manager Bobby “Axe” Axelrod and Oscar nominated superstar Paul Giamatti playing the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Chuck Rhoades.

Viewers can guarantee that the show will have plenty of insight into the financial world as the series is produced and written by Andrew Ross Sorkin, the leading financial reporter for The New York Times (NYT) and Brian Koppelman and David Levien, co-writers of ‘Ocean’s Thirteen.’

Greed is Good for Damian Lewis in the Latest Trailer for Wall Street Drama Billions

If you want justice, follow the money.

by – Digital Spy –3 September 2015

Greed is most definitely good for Wall Street kingpin Damian Lewis in the latest trailer for his series Billions.

Showtime’s upcoming 12-part drama takes place in the fast-paced world of hedge funds, where traders play fast and loose with government regulations.

The king of this opulent world is Bobby ‘Axe’ Axelrod (Lewis), whose open defiance of the law makes him the target of a government investigation.

Aiming to bring him down is steadfast US Attorney Chuck Rhoades, played by Golden Globe winner Paul Giamatti. Their conflict threatens to rock the very foundations of the US financial market – and could lead to ruin for one or both.

Too Big To Fail: You’re Going to Love to Hate Homeland’s Damian Lewis in His New Showtime Series

by Joanna Robinson – Vanity Fair – August 11, 2015

No matter how bad things got with Congressman Nicholas Brody on Homeland, there was a part of us that was always supposed to love him a little.  Sure, he was a terrorist, but such a gosh darn likable one! Well all that likability is out the window for actor Damian Lewis in his new home on Showtime.

Billions—which co-stars Paul Giamatti, Malin Akerman, and Maggie Siff—is about the privileged class enjoying their privileges and the one man struggling to take them down. Damian Lewis Returns to US TV & We Can’t Get Enough of His New Character’s Name – July 9, 2015

Homeland’s Nicholas Brody is a thing of the past…

by Ellie Walker-Arnott – RadioTimes – July 9, 2015

Former Homeland actor Damian Lewis is back on US TV, after marine-turned-terrorist-turned-CIA agent Nicholas Brody met a gruesome end back in 2013.

The 44-year-old is the star of a new Showtime drama called Billions. It’s about finance, money and a “suspect trading pattern” which kicks off a government investigation. Paul Giamatti stars as an incredibly angry US Attorney. There’s a lot of staring, glaring and people walking in slow motion.

And we are already 100% on board with the series, mainly because Lewis’ new character has the best name ever: Bobby Axelrod. It’s the sort of name you want to say over and over. Bobby Axelrod, Bobby Axelrod, Bobby Axelrod.
