Riding all the Way from London to Madrid for Hugo and Helen
by Lily Ford | Evening Standard | July 21, 2022
An Army officer has raised thousands of pounds for charity by cycling 2,100 kilometres from London to Madrid in memory of his “inspiring” brother and his aunt, actress Helen McCrory. Tom Yaxley, 32, is the brother of Hugo Yaxley and nephew of Damian, as well as McCrory, who died from cancer in April 2021 aged 52.
Mr. Yaxley has embarked on the cycle across Europe for Ride4Hugo, a series of fundraising events organised by friends and family which have earned more than £115,000 for four charities. Through tough gruelling climbs, injury, pain, heat, traffic and SHEEP! Nothing stopped him.

by Elizabeth Aubrey | Implurnt | July 8, 2022
Actor Damian Lewis has unveiled details of two new live dates and news of his debut solo album. The Homeland actor will play an intimate warm-up date at London’s Omeara on August 4, 2022 before making an appearance at Wilderness Festival in Oxford on August 7 from 8:35 p.m. until 9:15 p.m. He also announced that he will be releasing a debut album in 2023. Members Only
by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | July 7, 2022
Damian was in good spirits last night at the private member’s club, The House of Koko’s, inaugural summer party in London. The beautifully designed new member’s club is set backstage at London’s iconic Koko theatre, which reopened in April of this year and Damian attended that event as well here. The last night’s summer party included an impromptu live jam in the Penthouse where musicians and artists entertained members and guests in one long live session as club-goers danced.
Others in attendance were Jamie Hince, Alison Mosshart (both band members of The Kills), Ellie Goulding, singer Dionne Bromfield and film director Darren Strowger seen pictured here. Familiar faces as Damian, Helen McCrory and Darren Strowger all attended the Bob Dylan and Neil Young’s British Summertime Gig in the Teen Cancer America Suite at in Hyde Park in July, 2019. Read about that here. Also, Damian and Strowger attended last year’s UEFA Euro Final together and you can view photos of that 2020 event here.

Making the Rounds at the Racetrack
by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | July 3, 2022
Time to rev up those engines! Damian was seen at the Formula 1 British Grand Prix meeting ‘92 champion Nigel Mansell in the paddock and was given a tour of the Red Bull Racing garage, taking time to visit with British singer-songwriter Sam Ryder. Damian even met Stefano Domenicali, CEO of the Formula One Group, prior to the race and provided a grid walk interview with Martin Brundle. The 2022 Grand Prix of Great Britain took place over 52 laps of the 5.891-kilometre Silverstone Circuit on Sunday, July 3 in Northampton, England. It was reported Damian was right in the action filming the cars from the side of the track as the drivers left the starting grid for their formation lap and at one point shot the t-shirt cannon into the crowd of the fans (picture below). Carlos Sainz – driving for Ferrari – won for the first time in F1, with Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton coming in second and third, respectively.

Written By GingersnapComments Off on Damian Lewis Attended Launch of National Gallery’s Fundraising Campaign for Bicentenary Celebrations 2024
The Alchemist’s Feast
by Alastair Sooke | The Telegraph | June 23, 2022
Damian attended ‘The Alchemist’s Feast,’ an inaugural summer party and fundraiser for the National Gallery’s Bicentenary campaign, NG200. Tonight’s event – which was held Thursday, June 23, 2022 in London, England – launched a fundraising campaign for the gallery’s bicentenary celebrations scheduled for 2024. “We do lots of things at the National Gallery which are very serious and scholarly,” says its director, Gabriele Finaldi. “So, it’s perfectly OK to generate some excitement and glitziness as well.” Sitting in a sparse office overlooking Trafalgar Square, Finaldi – a deep-voiced, patriarchal figure, who, at 57, has already run the gallery for seven years – is referring to a red-carpet event taking place there tonight: London’s answer, if you like, to the extravagant Met Gala held every spring at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
National Gallery will exhibit a Van Gogh blockbuster as part of its 2024 bicentenary celebrations, provisionally being subtitled Poets and Lovers, and is scheduled to run from September 2024 to January 2025. Star loans include The Bedroom, Garden of the Asylum and—of course—the exhibition will show the museum’s own Sunflowers.
And Finaldi hopes that the party’s theme, “The Alchemist’s Feast”, will encourage guests to turn the base metal of goodwill into the gold of donations – because the gallery’s ambitious plans, which include a series of “significant” capital projects, will cost £95 million. Other guests in attendance included Sienna Miller, Olivia Buckingham, Jasper Conran, Ben Radcliffe, Sandy Powell, Emma Ridgway, David Grievson, Lara Stone, Geordie Greig, Kathryn Greig, Grayson Perry, Emily Beecham, Lily Lewis, Rish Shah, Iman Vellani, Hamish Bowles, Ikram Abdi Omar, Olga Kurylenko, Benedict Wong, Martha Ward, Joely Richardson, Tom Hughes, Alfonso Cuaron, Kim Hersov, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Beatrice of York, Nick Broomfield, Samantha Bond, Alexander Hanson, Marc Quinn, Joe Bromley, Sofia Blunt, Gabriela Peacock, Oli Green, Joseph and Sabine Getty and Ellie Bamber.

Mutual Heroes
by Shane Watson | The Telegraph | June 16, 2022
Men have friendships that women can’t help but envy – and it’s never clearer than when they’re famous.
When Damian Lewis locked eyes with David Beckham on the football pitch at Soccer Aid, it was an electric moment. David lit up like a small boy meeting his dad at the arrivals gate and Damian smiled like he’d missed him and only just realised how much. This is what the Mutual Hero friendship looks like.
David looks up to Damian and Damian looks up to David. Because Damian is an Etonian with sporty aspirations, he will be in awe of David, and because David admires a classy bloke, and Band of Brothers is almost certainly top of his watch-once-a-year list, he will feel much the same. But with the Mutual Hero friendship it’s also a matter of chemistry. Mixed in with the respect and the joy (“Look at us – we’ve still got it!”) there’s a whiff of a man crush going on. They both think each other are pretty fine specimens – all the more so because they’re from different tribes.
Women will have looked at the pictures of these two walking into each other’s arms and been reminded that male mates – especially in midlife – are surprisingly different from female ones. We may have friends who will instantly rally in a crisis, friends who know us better than our mothers and friends with whom we share every secret; but there are male friendships we can’t help but envy for their mysterious unshakeable bonds and inexplicable loyalties. Here are some of the four types of friendship that midlife men have:

Inaugural Launch of Mentor Charity: The McCrory Award
by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | June 15, 2022
Today, June 15, 2022, invitation-only attendees gathered for a private viewing of an art exhibit showcasing exclusive photography pieces of Helen McCrory to support the Sir Hubert von Herkomer Foundation and to honor The McCrory Award. The foundation – which Helen was the former Patron of and is now patroned by Damian – gives access to free art and media workshops for disadvantaged children “…so they can express their inner artist” and flourish. Other featured photographs that were donated by friends include Fay Ripley, Mark Strong, Eddie Redmayne, Helen Bonham Carter, Sienna Miller, Jude Law, Sadie Frost, Billie Piper, James Purefoy, Harriet Walter, Harry Treadaway, Stephen Mangan and Andrew Scott, all who posed for Debbi Clark, photographer and CEO/Founder of HvH Arts Foundation.
The McCrory Award was announced that evening, with Damian presenting the award to three young HvH Arts Foundation artistic beneficiaries. The foundation is dedicated to supporting children and young people who are gifted in their art, yet many do not have access to resources, training or support to fulfill their dream. The McCrory Award and charitable mentorship will make their dreams become a reality. Helen always believed every child should have equal opportunities and accessibility to the arts.

United By Play
by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | June 12, 2022
If you thought the World Cup was going to be the biggest sporting event of the year, think again because the world’s biggest celebrity football match Soccer Aid is back! The annual star-studded charity football match returned today, Sunday, June 12, 2022, playing at West Ham’s London Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, but not before training sessions at Champneys Tring in Wigginton, North Yorkshire days prior.
There were footballing greats and celebrities involved in this year’s game, and off-pitch the show was presented by UNICEF UK Ambassador Dermot O’Leary, joined by Maya Jama and Lionesses legend Alex Scott returned as pitch-side reporter. Kick-off began at 7:30 p.m. BST and coverage of the event aired on ITV television, with streaming available via ITV website and ITV Hub.
There was even a half-time musical performance from Soccer Aid founder Robbie Williams, who performed his famous hit ‘Angels’ and an appearance from UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador David Beckham.
During arrivals at London Stadium Damian had a short interview and predicted the match result as 4-1 in England’s favor. While on the pitch he further elaborated and claimed England would indeed win it. He was asked if it was a coincidence that England lost without him in the last three years and he said it was one of the biggest coincidences. 😉 View video of that portion here. At the half-time mark the match was tied 1-1 as Damian donned jersey number 66 and played in the second half. He missed a sitter, as he looked certain to score, but dragged the shot wide. Damian looked stunned and gutted! And we were gutted for him. At 84 minutes in, Damian spotted Tom Grennan’s dart into the area but he was offside. Going into tonight’s match the two teams were tied with five wins each after 10 matches, yet this match ended in a 2-2 draw at full-time, going into penalties. World XI scored four penalties and England scored one. The winning Team was World XI, with a final score of 6-3. Sorry Damian! See Damian’s score prediction here.
