'She's still with us': Damian Lewis paid tribute to his late wife Helen McCrory on Good Morning Britain on ThursdayActor Damian Lewis paid a moving tribute to his late wife Helen McCrory on Good Morning Britain on Thursday saying, “She’s with us.”

The star, who’s taking part in Sunday’s Soccer Aid, revealed how Helen was always his biggest supporter – and GMB hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shepherd shared their memories of the Peaky Blinders actor who passed away from cancer in April 2021 aged 52. Ben began by saying:

“The first time I met you and your lovely wife Helen away from work was at Soccer Aid many years ago in Manchester and you were there with the family and the kids. She was always such a vociferous supporter of you and everything you did. Kate and I were very honoured to be at her memorial service just a few weeks ago. I’d imagine you’ve been very moved by the outpouring of love and support that has been shown towards her since she sadly passed away.”

Damian replied, “Well, She was a fabulous human being and people from all walks of life have been in touch to say what an impact she had on their lives.”

Damian Lewis Attends UEFA Champions League Final in Paris

The Real ‘Top Gun’ Remake

As any staunch fan would do, Damian attended the UEFA Champions League Final at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, France on May 28, 2022 to see his beloved Liverpool Football Club play.  It was a punch in the gut for Liverpool in another heartbreaking finish to the season as Real Madrid’s second-half goal was enough to inflict a 1-0 defeat in the Champions League Final. It was the third time the two teams have met in the European Cup Final, but that’s not the full story.

Turns out Damian managed to get a seat on a club charter flight back from Paris only to find comedian, actor (Doctor Who) and former footballer John Bishop as a fellow passenger. Day two and more than six hours later, they have not moved from the tarmac and no amount of ham and cheese baguettes will satiate the hunger for home. Where is a working Tardis when you need one?

At this point, you can only turn this fiasco into comic relief as the two try and reach air traffic control from the cockpit. We hear they are going to pitch a new project to their agents as soon as they land – On Tarmac: A Sitcom.

Oscar International UK Tour: Education With a Kick

by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | May 19, 2022

In May, 2022 Damian attended a luncheon hosted by the Oscar Foundation to celebrate Oscar’s work in low income communities in India. Royal Patron HRH Sophie, The Countess of Wessex also attended the event, which took place to thank those who supported the Foundation, and also to share plans how to reach out to more children in 2022/2023. The combination of football and charity is totally Damian’s turf!

The Foundation is education with a kick, a non-profit organization that uses football to instill the value of education in children and youth from low-income communities of India. The Foundation is headquartered in Mumbai and has reached out to children in Mumbai, Delhi, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand. Others in attendance were Nathaniel Parker, Ashok Shankar Rathod and Lucinda Sowerbutts.

Damian Lewis Joins Soccer Aid 2022

Soccer Aid for UNICEF: Two Teams, One Goal

by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | March 22, 2022

Today it was announced that Damian will return for Soccer Aid 2022, joining Team England.

Damian played in the very first Soccer Aid back in 2006 and has gone on to make several subsequent appearances in the match, mainly as a central midfielder.

A source said: “Damian’s had an incredibly hard year after losing Helen but when Soccer Aid approached him about being part of the charity game, he wanted to help out. Damian is a massive Liverpool FC fan and can’t wait to get out on the pitch.”

This year’s celebrity charity match has been moved from Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge to London Stadium, featuring a special half time show from Mr. Soccer Aid himself, UNICEF UK Ambassador, Robbie Williams. Prices starting from £10 for children, £20 for adults and premium from £75. A family of four (2 adults, 2 children) can attend from £60.

Team favorites Usain Bolt, Tom Grennan and Martin Compston will lace up their boots once again to play alongside footballing legends Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Patrice Evra. Taking to the pitch for the first time, new signings for 2022 include Alex Brooker, Lucien Laviscount and Liam Payne as captain of the England team.

Damian Lewis Spotted at UEFA Champions League Match

Liverpool vs. Inter

by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | March 9, 2022

Guess who was out and about to watch his fave Liverpool play? Damian was spotted at the UEFA Champions League match, round of 16, leg 2 of 2, on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool, UK. Liverpool lost 0 -1 against Internazionale Milano (Inter), but won by aggregate. In the first game, LFC beat Inter 2 – 0. In the second match, Inter beat LFC 1 – 0. LFC has more goals in total, so even though LFC lost this game, they will go on to the quarter finals. Damian posed for photos with many fans and even made a stop at Taggy’s, a unique LFC-themed bar on 21 Anfield Road. Whether Damian stopped by to imbibe for pre-game or post-game, who can tell?! 🙂 But we’re told some singing may have been involved. For more about Taggy’s Bar, visit their website here.
