Honey you’ll survive Keep Yourself Alive – Queen
Happy Friday from the Trader’s Desk! Are you ready for some Billions? Yeah, me too. Let’s get down to it, shall we?
Before we get into the Axe/Taylor storyline, I’d like to say that I truly enjoyed Chuck’s! It was fun, and so New York. Not just the different restaurants, but the type of horse-trading Chuck does is typical high-power moves New Yorkers do all the time!

The Characters Are Willing to Go Very Far in Order to Exact Revenge
by Dave Gil de Rubio | Long Island Weekly | March 21, 2019
David Levien and Brian Koppelman shooting season four of Billions.
In a day and age of consumerism and major wealth disparity, Billions serves as the kind of series that holds a mirror up to the excesses of Wall Street and the one percent. Centered on the legal battles waged between rogue hedge fund managers and federal prosecutors, the Showtime drama stars Damian Lewis (Homeland), Paul Giamatti (John Adams; Sideways; Straight Outta Compton) and Maggie Siff (Mad Men; Sons of Anarchy). The three respectively play Charles “Chuck” Rhoades, Jr. (a U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York), Robert “Bobby” Axelrod, the billionaire manager of the Axe Capital hedge fund and Dr. Wendy Rhoades, wife of Chuck and in-house performance coach at Axe Capital.
When the series completed its third season, newly appointed U.S. Attorney General Waylon “Jock” Jeffcoat (veteran character actor Clancy Brown) ousted Rhoades while former Axelrod protégé Taylor Amber Mason (Asia Kate Dillon) left Axe Capital and poached some traders in the process. The end result was an intriguing alliance between the two male leads, whose characters had previously been bitter rivals. It all makes for an intriguing season four, in a plot that is a high-stakes chess game fueled by the combination of sharp writing and impeccable acting. The series is shot on locations throughout New York City and Long Island.

Wendy Rhoades: So Powerful Without the Bitch Title
by Michael Idato | March 20, 2019 | Sydney Morning Herald
As TV couples go, Billions‘ Wendy and Chuck Rhoades are a little out of the ordinary.
By day Wendy is the confident in-house performance coach at Axe Capital, encouraging her boss Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) to ever greater heights of financial chicanery.
At night she goes home to Chuck (Paul Giamatti), the US attorney determined to bring down Bobby, with whom she engages in Bondage/Discipline-Sadism/Masochism (BDSM) role play, with Wendy in the dominant role and Chuck as the slave.
It is, admits actress Maggie Siff, a lot to take in.
“Maggie, the psychotherapist, analysing Wendy, would probably say that both of those relationships are terrible for her in terms of her discovering her highest self,” Siff says.
“I think both of those relationships have driven her to towards darkness and in her desire to stick it out and help each of them succeed and ascend, she’s paid a price.”

Written By GingersnapComments Off on Billions Is Spending Its ‘F— You Money’ in Season 4 – March 19, 2019
After earning a fortune of goodwill over three seasons, the latest from Brian Koppelman and David Levien is cashing in on some fast fun.
by Ben Travers | IndieWire | March 18, 2019
The greatest “Billions” line in a long history of great lines is the one that started it all: “What’s the point of having ‘fuck you money,’ if you never say ‘fuck you’?” In Showtime’s series premiere, hedge fund billionaire Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) was mocking the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti), in the first of many verbal smackdowns between sworn enemies. The two men’s vitriol for one another ran both professional and personal — Chuck’s wife, Wendy (Maggie Siff), is also Bobby’s in-house therapist — and fueled the series through multiple hoodwinks, betrayals, pranks, gambits, and a very dicey bit of business involving poisoned juice.
That was then, this is now: Having been kicked out of office, Chuck is at his wit’s end. Bobby, who lost his wife (Lara, played by Malin Akerman) and nearly went to prison, isn’t far behind. So at the end of Season 3, with a little coaxing from Wendy, the two team up. And with that, “Billions” started spending the fuck you money its been hoarding for three increasingly impressive seasons — and, boy, is it going places in Season 4.

Written By GingersnapComments Off on Billions Season Four is Game Of Thrones With Less Sex But More Drugs and Rock’n’Roll – March 19, 2019
Damian Lewis is back as hedge fund alpha Bobby Axelrod. And hell hath no fury like an atomic asset manager with his billion-dollar balls in a vice.
by Paul Henderson | GQ Magazine | March 19, 2019
Within five minutes of the start of season four of Billions, hard-rockin’ hedge fund alpha Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) has woken to the sound of “Ace Of Spades” by Motörhead, skipped breakfast (“A man like you should eat something. You’ve got fuel to burn,” says Axe’s manservant. “Do I look like I need to fan the fire?” snaps back the response) and unleashed a maelstrom of iron-clad legal documents that his lawyer Orrin Bach (Glenn Fleshler) describes as “tighter than AC/DC in ’78”.
Meanwhile, on the other side of town, former US attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) kicks off proceedings by air drumming his way through the Rev Al Green’s “I Feel Good”, before getting on with his new and far less prestigious job: playing the small-time power broker as he sets about trying to re-climb the greasiest of political poles.
In other words, Billions is back, baby, and it means business.
