Once Upon A Time…in Hollywood To Be Re-Released This Friday With Four New Scenes – Oct 23, 2019

More McQueen Footage Perhaps?

by Anthony D’Alessandro | Deadline | October 23, 2019

There was always talks that Quentin Tarantino would add more scenes to his ninth movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood following its premiere at Cannes, finally, here it is, a new cut, just in time for awards season that Sony will re-release in around 1,500 theaters on Friday. Four never-before-scenes will be added, book-ending the new print. The movie, Tarantino’s first outside of his partnership with the Weinsteins, is his second-grossing ever stateside with $139.8M, $368.3M worldwide behind Django Unchained. The pic opened during the final weekend of July to $41M and one of the few pieces of counter-programming in a Disney-filled IP summer to work.

For those living in LA and happened to catch Hollywood at Tarantino’s Beverly Cinema, that print offered up an extended cut of a Bounty Law segment (the TV show starring DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton character). The movie follows Dalton, a fading movie star who is crashing into TV and his loyal stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). They also happen to be neighbors to Roman Polanski and Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) in the Hollywood Hills at a socially-disruptive time in LA, the summer of ’69.  Al Pacino also stars.

Could the Next James Bond Be Ginger? The Famous Redhead Rules Himself Out

by Kristy Lang | Radio Times Magazine | Issue: October 5-11, 2019

In a five-star hotel suite high above the City of London, Damian Lewis and I have a ginger bonding moment. As a fellow redhead, I’ve long admired his rise through the acting world. Not many gingers get leading-man status, but after starring in series such as Band of Brothers, Homeland and Billions, Lewis is big in American.

We’re meeting to discuss his first venture into the world of documentaries, fronting and producing a series about spies on the History channel.

Lewis, now 48, was born in London but was sent to boarding school at a young age, which, he thinks, would make him a very good spy.

“If you are sent away from your family at the age of eight, it gives you a rigor, a dissociative quality that is extremely useful for spies because they have to be able to shut down parts of their emotional life. That’s why the British secret services actively recruited public schoolboys. Guy Burgess is the most extreme example of that. He was flamboyant, charming and mostly drunk – how he didn’t reveal what he was doing is a mystery to me.”

Who’s Who in Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood: A Character Guide – Aug 3, 2019

The True Story of Once Upon a Time in…Hollywood Characters

by Rebecca Alter | Vulture | August 2, 2019

Warning: spoilers ahead.

Quentin Tarantino plays fast and loose with historical revisionism like he’s a kid left alone with action figures, or a Harry/Louis slash-fic writer drowning in AO3 tags. He takes a piece of history that’s captured his imagination, creates a Mary Sue or two to beat the boogeymen at the boss level, and poof! His avenging avatars kill Hitler, save Sharon Tate, and burn down one more plantation blighting the earth. Like Inglourious Basterds before it, Tarantino populates his ninth film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, with real figures alongside more reality-adjacent ones. So for those of us (all of us) less versed in his brand of fanboy ephemera, here’s a map to the stars, real and pretend, in OUATIH.

Tarantino Might Team with Netflix For a 4-Hr Cut of Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood – Aug 3, 2019

More McQueen Scene On Our Screen?

by Steffanie Tan | Pedestrian | August 3, 2019

Today in rumoursville, Quentin Tarantino might re-team with Netflix to brings fans an extended cut of Once Upon A Time … In Hollywood.

In an interview on the The Mutuals podcast, via Complex, OUATIH star Nicholas Hammondsaid there are talks of a “four-hour Netflix version”, which sounds pretty standard for Tarantino. The theatrical version clocks in at two hours and 45 minutes.

Netflix recently turned Tarantino’s 2015 film The Hateful Eight into a mini-series called The Hateful Eight: Extended Version, which is pretty much four episodes that are all almost an hour long each. Unfortunately, it appears it’s only available on the US version of the streaming service… for now.

According to Hammond, there were a lot of scenes Tarantino shot that couldn’t make it into the film because “there simply wasn’t enough room.”

“I think they’re talking about doing the same [as The Hateful Eight],” he continued. “There are some actors like Tim Roth, wonderful actors, who never even made it into the film. I mean, their entire roles got cut … Actors, who are really, really first class actors, and they went and shot their scenes and I’m sure they’re wonderful scenes but they’re not in the movie.”

“The Netflix version will be great too,” he added.

This bit of the interview begins around the 22-minute and 10-second mark.

A Collection of Reviews: The Critics Have Spoken

by Gingersnap | damian-lewis.com | July 25, 2019

With Once Upon a Time In…Hollywood  out in U.S. theaters tomorrow, July 26, the movie reviews have started pouring in. Here is what they are saying:

New York Times

There is a lot of love in “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood,” and quite a bit to enjoy. The screen is crowded with signs of Quentin Tarantino’s well-established ardor — for the movies and television shows of the decades after World War II; for the vernacular architecture, commercial signage and famous restaurants of Los Angeles; for the female foot and the male jawline; for vintage clothes and cars and cigarettes. But the mood in this, his ninth feature, is for the most part affectionate rather than obsessive. Don’t get me wrong. Tarantino is still practicing a cinema of saturation, demanding the audience’s total attention and bombarding us with allusions, visual jokes, flights of profane eloquence, daubs of throwaway beauty and gobs of premeditated gore. And yet “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood,” whose title evokes bedtime stories as well as a pair of Sergio Leone masterpieces, is Tarantino’s most relaxed movie by far, both because of its ambling, shaggy-dog structure and the easygoing rhythm of its scenes.

Quentin Tarantino has called Once Upon a Time in Hollywood his love letter to 1969 Los Angeles, and on Monday night, the auteur delivered that heartfelt homage right in the heart of Tinseltown at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre. As the writer, director and producer of his ninth film, Tarantino’s passions for the bygone era could be felt everywhere — from a faux studio soundstage that served as the backdrop for a blush pink carpet to an outdoor lounge dubbed the Pussycat Theatre where VIPs sipped cocktails at sundown waiting for stars Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie to arrive.

13 Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Posters Light Up the Hollywood Skyline in Neon

by Kevin Burwick | MovieWeb | July 22, 2019

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood boasts an impressive cast and a lot of them are featured in their own character posters. Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming movie has already had a bunch of great promotional posters modeled after fake movies from within Once Upon a Time and character posters featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie. However, the latest posters expand on the cast and have been spotted on billboards in major cities. Luke Perry’s son Jack even found one of his father in Los Angeles and scaled it to pose for a picture.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton, Margot Robbie’s Sharon Tate, and Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth are all featured in the new Once Upon a Time in Hollywood posters. Luke Perry plays Scott in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and the movie serves as his last role on the big screen. The actor sadly passed away earlier this year after complications from suffering a massive stroke. Actress Margaret Qualley plays Cat, while Al Pacino plays Marvin Schwarzs and they have their own posters too.

Additionally, Mike Moh’s Bruce Lee, Timothy Olyphant’s Johnny, Kurt Russell’s Randy, and Damian Lewis’ Steve McQueen are all featured in the new Once Upon a Time in Hollywood posters. Even Sayuri the dog gets her own poster as Brandy. Quentin Tarantino has been going all out in promoting the upcoming movie, which has a considerable amount of hype surrounding it. The director has talked about calling it quits when it comes to taking big screen projects on, but he still has a few idea floating around which could turn into possible projects down the line, like a possible Kill Bill 3.
