A charity football match that raised more than £400,000 for Grenfell Tower survivors has won a community project of the year award.  Former England goalkeeper David Seaman joined a cast of celebrities including Marcus Mumford, Les Ferdinand, Peter Crouch and Damian Lewis at the Game4Grenfell in September last year.

Queens Park Rangers hosted the celebrity showdown at the Loftus Road stadium, situated just a mile away from the site of the disaster.

About 2,000 complimentary tickets were given to those directly affected, including residents, relatives of the victims, volunteers and members of the emergency services.

Did Damian Make Santa’s Naughty or Nice List? – Dec 25, 2017

Naughty or Nice?  Which Showbiz Stars Have Earned Their Places on Santa’s Naughty and Nice Lists?

by Dan Cain – The Sun – December 25, 2017

It’s been a year that’s seen both the best and the worst in the land of celebrity – so who is in Santa’s good books and who can expect a lump of coal this Christmas?

We’ll start with the good Samaritans. While Hollywood has been hit with plenty of scandal this year, some big names have proven that there’s still lots of good out there, too.

The likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Kim Kardashian, Bruno Mars and Sandra Bullock have all donated huge amounts of money to various charity relief efforts following disasters such as the Flynt water crisis, Hurricane Harvey and the Texas floods.

They may have bank accounts full of loot, but there’s no doubting that these A-listers are deserving of a treat or two this festive period.

Our own British talent has also done its bit to help worthy causes. Singing superstar Adele dropped in unannounced to say a big thank you to the Grenfell firefighters after their heroics in the tower block tragedy.

Other musicians and stars such as Stormzy, Marcus Mumford and Damian Lewis also gave up their time to raise money for the victims through the Game For Grenfell football match and charity single A Bridge Over Troubled Water. Damian Lewis Attends GFI Charity Day for Sohana Research Fund/Cure EB – Sept 11, 2017

On the Trading Floor for a Good Cause

by Damianista | Fan Fun with Damian Lewis | September 11, 2018

We all know Damian Lewis is a proud patron of Cure EB, formally Sohana Research Fund. Damian ROCKED the trading floor on Charity Day in 2014 picking up the phones to help raise money for Sohana Research Fund/Cure EB as well as Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

And today he was BACK on the trading floor, this time at GFI Group, now a division of BGC partners, representing Cure EB/Sohana Research Fund to help raise funds and find a cure for Epidermolysis Bullosa, to make the world a better place for the bravest girl he has ever known and all the butterfly kids out there.

From Locker Room to After-Party: Damian Lewis at Game for Grenfell

Well, he may call himself a muppet but Damian plays more like a professional baller in Game for Grenfell!

Les Ferdinand and Alan Shearer, two former football stars, put together Game4Grenfell, a football match between two amazing teams of football stars and non-football stars at Queen Park Rangers’ (QPR) Loftus Road Stadium “to raise funds and inspire hope for those affected” by the Grenfell Tower fire that caused at least 80 deaths and more than 70 injuries back in June.

And while we are all on the same side at Game4Grenfell; on the side of the victims, their families, and the larger Lancaster West Estatecommunity, when asked by Game4Grenfell the following question, I have only one answer:

Damian Lewis’s Goal for Grenfell Tower Charity Football Match? Don’t Get Nutmegged! – Sept 1, 2017

Damian Lewis’s goal for Grenfell Tower charity football match? Don’t get nutmegged!

By David Churchill – Evening Standard – September 1, 2017

Damian has one aim when he takes to the pitch for tomorrow’s Grenfell Tower charity football match — to avoid the kind of humiliation he suffered at the feet of one of the world’s greatest players.

Zinedine Zidane nutmegged the former Homeland star in front of 70,000 people at Old Trafford after Lewis clattered into him with a poor tackle during a 2010 Soccer Aid match.

This time Lewis, who grew up near Grenfell Tower, will be playing alongside stars including Sir Mo Farah, Olly Murs, Tinie Tempah and Alan Shearer at Loftus Road, home of Queens Park Rangers. Funds raised will go through London Community Foundation to the Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund before being distributed to survivors, and towards community projects.
